You can't blame them for wanting to keep the gang-bangers out.  Wonder if Muslums Bowl?

A Michigan bowling complex is reviewing its dress code after receiving complaints that the policy targets black men. A sign at Spare Time Entertainment Center in Lansing prohibited excessively baggy pants, hoodies and do-rags, the Lansing State Journal reported .

It also bars gang colors and insignia, and clothing with vulgar language or pictures.

The company has removed the signage and is reevaluating its policies, said Spare Time spokeswoman Meredith Assande.

Do-rags and other hats are now acceptable if they don't impede vision or have gang colors, she said.

Loose or baggy clothing isn't encouraged because it can be a safety hazard for patrons participating in activities, Assande said. Hoodies are allowed as long as they're lowered upon entering the facility as a security precaution, she said.

'We want to be able to see our guests' faces,' Assande said.

The dress code is meant to create a 'hospitable and pleasant environment,' Assande said.

The sign was added after the bowling alley saw an increase in fighting, crime and drug use among patrons over the past three months. Police have responded to situations at the bowling complex more than six times.

'These difficult situations are not isolated to one group,' Assande said. 'Safety for our families is our number one concern.'

There was a time when a businessman could run his business as he saw fit -- even to dictate what customers should be wearing.   If a customer didn't like it, he could go elsewhere.   Now we have government and a whole bunch of special interests telling businesses what to do.

It's not right. If the gangstas don't like the bowling alley's rules, they should go elsewhere.

If I go into a business and I have a hat, scarf or hood on, I remove them. At my age, I'd hardly look like a gangsta, but it just seems like common sense.  How does someone bowl with a hood up like that?

Very little of your Hoodrat/Gangsta apparel could be considered practical.

There was a Detroit area bar that caught hell a few years ago for a "NO COLORS" sign. Liberals flew into a psychotic rage over it.

Was that the same place a black dude walked by and went on a FB rant about it being a racist bar because in his retarded head he thought the sign said "No Colored's Allowed"

Yeah. I knew exactly what it meant and I didn't grow up in biker culture.

One of the funny things about Detroit is that its a very southern city. If you're a 2nd or 3rd generation white Detroiter, chances are you're a hillbilly.

One of my aunts, a Northerner who grew up in Michigan, married a guy from Tennessee (who had moved north for a job) for her second husband. Nicest guy you'd ever want to meet.

Detroit, Flint, Lansing and Benton Harbor, areas with large black populations aren't the places to hang out if you are white.  I live 28 miles from downtown Detroit and don't go near the place.  Even the highways art safe as you're likely to get shot at from an overpass, or from a passing car, or even have rocks thrown by hoodlum youths.  The violence in Detroit is worse than Chicago, but in Detroit only the local news covers it.

I did work at Macomb, Henry Ford, and Beaumont for years.  Most times, I had to stay in the area, as well.  Never had any problems.

Last Easter while wandering downtown I met a black biker wearing an authentic WWII German army helmet. It even had a DAF (German labor front) stamp inside. Turns out he is a high school history teacher who got his degree from Hillsdale college. His bike was a Detroit Brothers custom Harley.

That bike made an awesome sound echoing through the urban canyons

There was a story in Mlive today saying that Detroit had the lowest murder rate in 50 years. Its still very high but the murder rate is  high in all cities.

I have no interest in living in the city but if I had to choose one, Detroit would be at the top of my list for the freedoms afforded there. There are no soda or sugar nannies telling you what to eat or drink and armed self defense is legal and encouraged by police chief Craig.

Ive seen guys walking down Detroit sidewalks with an AR-15 slung over their shoulder with cops just driving by. Open carry like that in NY and a SWAT team will likely kill you on the spot.

Such nonsense, must be your imagination, or stuff you attract to yourself. I've been downtown 3 times in the last week, nobody shot at me or carjacked me. High volume of other drivers not shot at either.

@SkyKing

The transformation of downtown Detroit over the last 5 years is nothing short of astounding. The empty buildings are full with new buildings going up including a new skyscraper that will be the tallest in the city. There's a strong possibility of a new Amazon HQ landing in Detroit.

The bankruptcy really opened the floodgates to new private investment and the new Gordie Howe bridge will probably be an even bigger boost.

Obviously there are still big problems in Detroit as there are in all cities but as money flows to downtown it begins to find its way outward.

We’ll see in the next several election cycles if all this so called influx will change the political landscape of the city, state and federal office holders that have forever been entrenched in Democratic Party hands. I don’t hold my breath. The Demorats are the root of Detroit’s problems.
