What Really Works to Fight a Stubborn Cough?

Wednesday, November 8, 2017

WEDNESDAY, Nov. 8, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- If you're looking for a cough remedy this cold season, you might be out of luck.

Nothing has been proven to work that well, according to a new report from the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP).

After reviewing clinical trials testing everything from cough syrups to zinc, an ACCP panel came to some less-than-positive conclusions: Over-the-counter medicines -- including cold and cough products and anti-inflammatory painkillers -- cannot be recommended.

Been fighting a cough all week.

Dark chocolate (90%) has proven best at immediate suppression, but the effect also fades somewhat fast.

Honey seems to work as well.

Ultimately, the thing that works best is falling asleep! Of course, when you are hacking up a lung, that's a challenge. So, use one of the immediate suppressors but couple it with a sleep aid that will knock you the eff out fast!
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Too late for you - It takes a couple months to make, and you'll probably be over it by the time it's ready...
But make some up for next time. You'll see.

There is the instant variety, but I don't find it to be as effective... YMMV

But a vinegar and honey tonic will do a lot of good by itself:

Dinner glass or coffee cup
1 finger width of apple cider vinegar
a fair dollop of natural local honey
Fill to the top with very hot water.

Sip till gone

Repeat as needed (3x day or so)

Buy some Hall's or Luden's sugar-free drops.

Before bed, put one "in your cheek".

You can go to sleep and it will last most of the night...
