Maine governor vetoes bill legalizing marijuana

By Julia Manchester - 11/04/17 06:57 PM EDT

Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) dealt a major blow to marijuana advocates in his state on Friday when he moved to veto legislation that would have regulated and taxed the sale of recreational marijuana.

"Until I clearly understand how the federal government intends to treat states that seek to legalize marijuana, I cannot in good conscience support any scheme in state law to implement expansion of legal marijuana in Maine," LePage wrote in a letter to Maine lawmakers.

"We need assurances that a change in policy or administration at the federal level will not nullify those investments," he continued.

Only a Stoner could believe getting the Govt involved in the sale and distribution of your momentary escape from reality is a good thing.

Well, PA just legalized medicinal marijuana. I figure it's only a matter of time before recreational use is legalized too.

The socialist/communist/Democrats love the idea of legalization.   More money coming in for them to squander or take for themselves.    Besides, a  dumbed down, drugged populace is easier to control.

Good on ya, Mr. LePage.

There's something I like about this guy.

Again, I'll make the suggestion:
He should run against Susan Collins for the Senate (he's term-limited out of the governorship next year).

Either run as a straight-out "independent" (didn't he do that and win the governorship that way?), or... enter the Republican primaries and run directly against Collins for the Republican nomination...

If these people just maybe rethought that Articles of Confederation thing and actually seceded now, America would lose half it's communist/socialist, it's a Texas thing.
