Corker to use power in Senate, alliance with Flake to question Trump on foreign policy
Washington Times, Oct 29, 2017, Guy Taylor

While the recent criticism of Mr. Trump from Mr. Corker and from Sen. Jeff Flake — both longtime moderate Republicans and both on their way out at the end of next year — might seem like garden-variety theatrics from two lame-duck lawmakers, Capitol Hill sources say the implications are deep.

Mr. Corker heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, of which Mr. Flake is a member, and has suggested he intends to use the panel as a forum in the coming months to air concerns about Mr. Trump’s leadership on a range of fronts, including Iran, North Korea, Russia and the Middle East.

“The committee is going to be very active,” Mr. Corker told reporters last week before announcing plans to hold a series of hearings, which could generate headlines that damage the public’s view of Mr. Trump.

Hey, McConnell ... time for a change in chairmanship and committee membership on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Well the article calls Flake a Moderate Republican but his record calls him Libertarian Conservative.

Just a correction.  Reading through his record I would say I have a mixed opinion of him.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Doesn't matter any more.  Flake has announced he is a leader of the resistance.

This lame duck Senator should be treated as he is now .... a member fighting with the political enemy.

I agree @Right_in_Virginia Flake, Corker and inevitably McCain are gonna be nothing but continuing trouble for America in their current role in the US Senate as far as getting anything done.
The analogy, though quite depressing, of a horse with a broken leg comes to mind.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
What is the point of their little clown act? Just a bunch of piff poffing around and showing their arses to everyone.

How about getting some legislation passed?
The Republic is lost.

I agree about getting some work done .... and taking Flake and his deadbeats off the front pages would be mighty helpful to this end.
