Trump is Just Not Good At This…At All

By Peter Heck  |  September 6, 2017, 08:24am  |  @peterheck

It will have to go down as one of the greatest charades of all time, this notion that Donald Trump was the “master negotiator” Republicans and the country needed in 2016. Remember that was the selling point; that was why he was preferable to Cruz, Rubio, Walker and the whole gang of documented conservatives who actually had governing experience. Trump would “get things done.”

But he hasn’t. At all.

Not only that, but far from being someone who can “get things done,” Trump has shown a propensity for “screwing things up.” And the most recent example of what is turning into an embarrassing litany of blown lay-ups for the president is his handling of this DACA Dreamer mess.

The POTUS can't walk away from the table so that sort of deal making is out. He's putting congressional Republicans on the spot and that is a good thing.

He's undermining congressional Republicans? Taking away their leverage? Leverage to sell us out yet again?

He spoke at length at what a great meeting he had "....with Chuck and Nancy".  Didn't even so much as mention O'Connell or Ryan.

Screw the GOP....they are going to get exactly what they deserve.

He just allowed Ryan to marginalize the Freedom Caucus and I'm sure not many people here are surprised, He's a NY Liberal, after all, in search of anything to sign.   #MAGA

While only one of primary candidates listed, Walker, actually had governing experience, I can't deny that Trump screwed the pooch on DACA. While throwing it to Congress has merit, Trump putting his weight behind it did not. Could have been a decent article if the author had stuck to DACA and left out the cheap whining.

If Trump can triangulate, why can't the conservatives/Tea Party/Freedom Caucus? It's past time to ditch Mitch and Ryan.
