Cruz Shuts Down Harvard Professor

Posted By Amber Athey On 4:37 PM 06/02/2017 In | No Comments

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) schooled a Harvard professor on Twitter Friday in a debate over the origins of America.

Joyce Chaplin, a professor of American Studies at Harvard, tweeted about the Paris accord, arguing that since the international community created America, America should give back to the international community.

“The USA, created by int’l community in Treaty of Paris in 1783, betrays int’l community by withdrawing from #parisclimateagreement today,” she wrote.

Never argue with an astute expert on American history and constitutional law.

Pretty sad that a professor of American Studies is so ignorant of American history. No wonder so many kids who graduate from college these days are still uneducated.

The 1783 treaty was simply a treaty to accept what was already reality and wouldn't change anything if it had never been signed.

Its like agreeing to have a child when the kid is already in college.

The Treaty of Paris (1783) didn't create the US and it wasn't done by the "international community" (whatever that means).   It was a treaty between the 13 colonies, as then constituted under the Articles of Confederstion, and Great Britain in which GB acknowledged the United States (ie, the 13 colonies) to be free, sovereign and independent states.

Furthermore, the US as it is now did not come into existence until 1789, with the current Constitution, so the Treaty of Paris some 6 years earlier could not have had anything to do with it.

This "professor" is as dumb as a box of rocks.

My daughter graduated high school this week and will be off to college in the fall.

I just hope I've taught her the difference between a cow pattie and a line of B.S.

Who knows just what American Studies is?  Might not have anything to do with history.

It is supposed to incorporate the study of history.

It's not about educating them anymore!  It's about indoctrinating them!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Yes.  Supposed to.    But does it?  I'm going to guess that it's more of an indoctrination class than teaching actual history.

These days, real history isn't taught.  Much of the time it isn't taught at all.  But when students do take an actual history class, all they get is some anti-American propaganda devised by someone whow hates America.

It is virtually impossible for history professors to teach any REAL history today because they themselves don't know any!  This indoctrination business is NOT new!  Been going on for a LONG time in fact!

It appears that basic history education these days goes back to the 1960s and no further. There is an outright obsession with destroying any memory of things earlier unless they can be used to attack America.

I remember watching my niece pumping my grandmother for information about the depression and the horrible bankers who stole everybody's land.

She didn't get it.

My grandmother spoke fondly of those days because she was a child. She said that she didn't notice being poor because everybody was poor. She had a single doll which was common among all the girls she knew. Her family had a radio which many families didn't have. She also pointed out that things weren't too bad in the rural midwest. Only those deepest in debt lost their farms, her father abandoned the family yet they still managed to keep the farm.

Same with my family, they didn't have anything, but they never really had much to begin with, they farmed, they ate, life went on. She said they basically didn't even know the depression was even going on.

It has.  I was indoctrinated by a socialist professor.  I came home one weekend and explained to my uncle how he was being exploited by Swift where he worked.  I was quite passionate about it.

This was some while back.

I love to watch Ted Cruz argue with some idiot.  He knows everything has the vocabulary to express it.
