Cordray to huddle with House Democrats next week

Richard Cordray, the country’s chief consumer watchdog and a totem of the Obama-era banking regulations Republicans are anxious to abolish, will join House Democrats at their weekly caucus meeting on Wednesday.

As director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Cordray has long been in the GOP's crosshairs. Republicans have been ratcheting up calls to fire the former Ohio attorney general and abolish the agency since President Donald Trump took over the White House.
