Don't be disingenuous. That's not the point and you know it. The point is why should our militant adversaries enjoy internal security and we not!?!
It is a false premise to say that it must be either the feckless spectator-sport security we now have or an Iranian-style police state. What is being proposed is that there are other options than those two unsatisfactory ones.
Many of the advantages of our Constitutional freedoms have eroded over the long decades of assault by civil libertarians who think of nothing else. As if freedom for terrorists to roam and slay at will within our borders or for violent criminals to prey upon innocent, hard-working decent people are both good or necessary "freedoms". PTUI!
As mentioned above, Israel is possibly a good example of a largely free society that yet is able to carry out efficient security investigations which enable it to prevent many or most of the large-scale terrorists attacks inside its borders.
We won't even let our airline pilots carry firearms as a last-line of defense against a homicidal lunatic on the plane bent on mass murder or worse, turning the jet into a WMD.
With roughly one-third or more of our own population working against the rest in strident, knee-jerk opposition for cussedness' sake, we can scarcely act as a unified efficient nation and fix the situation. Leftists seem largely and increasingly committed to asinine, pointless contrarianism which eternally offers in response to our national issues, lots of advice, lots of criticism and absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER.
