Sure he does.  Take term life insurance.  A few fierce competitors in that space.  I know, we looked at it from a product standpoint when I worked at The Equitable.

Competition here is across state lines.  Very tough to break through to the underwriting skills that the entrenched competitors have.

Term life insurance may have some importance but very little in the realm of repealing Obamacare.
Against stupidity, the Gods themselves contend in vain.

I do like the approach.  Perhaps networks of hospitals could be set up to allow for transferring coverage from geographical location to another.

I don't know.

It is directly related.  Underwriting risk pools across state lines would allow for much more accurate and lower pricing.  Combined with defining coverage to a basic set of things - catastrophic events- would lower prices significantly!

My wife and I are in our late 60s and have no need for any kind of maternity coverage.  The couple down the street in their mid twenties does need that.  Why are we not allowed to purchase the exact coverages we need from whomever we please instead of forcing a one size fits all policy on everyone?
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Because you have to help pay for other people, Bigun...

Exactly.  Of course, overall the young ( people in their 20s) are subsidizing the old.

Not a bad thought if it was tried in the USA (hospital memberships). Maybe it's not done that way in Central America because the populace isn't as mobile. Where I've seen it hospital memberships are pretty popular.

Of course it is!  Well, sorta - that actually is the reason Mr. and Mrs. Bigun have to purchase the plan they have to purchase.  Now, is it right - of course not.

Notice how the lefty Bloomberg trashes Republicans.

No Score

Collins said the panel may try to mark up the bill next week, but it hasn’t been processed yet by the Congressional Budget Office, which will provide a "score" on its cost, as well as an estimate of how many people the plan will insure. That score is critical to the debate, because the GOP plan is expected to provide coverage for significantly fewer people than Obamacare.

“It looks like, unfortunately, based on the delays, we may be marking it up and voting on it before we have a score,” Collins said.

The committee has made no final decisions on timing for any markup, said a Republican committee aide who didn’t want to be identified.

Moving ahead without a CBO score could be a problem for some members, particularly conservatives, who are worried that leaders might end up replacing Obamacare with something of a similar cost.

But Republicans are eager to jump-start their stalled effort, pointing out that it still has to go through several steps before reaching the House floor.
