 The SEAL Team 6 raid in Yemen that resulted in the death of Chief Special Warfare Operator William "Ryan" Owens was declared a success by President Donald Trump, who praised Owens and his fellow commandos, three of whom were wounded, for "killing 14 [Qaeda] members" and "capturing important intelligence that will assist the US in preventing terrorism."

But as more details of the weekend covert counterterrorism operation emerge, it's evident that the mission didn't go according to plan.

If this was such a bust and Al Qaeda was ready for the Seal team, how did all of these towel heads get killed? I am also curious why the military went for approval for this if they were not ready for the mission? Is our military now an incompetent bunch of bumblers?

Now, Reuters reports that anonymous military officials say the mission was approved without proper preparation.

Planning began under the Obama administration, but one official told Reuters that, "the decision was made ... to leave it to the incoming administration, partly in the hope that more and better intelligence could be collected."

I've supported Trump but I can't help but remember when he was saying he did not need intelligence briefings. It looks a bit like a breakdown here. There could be other issues here.
