(Cartoon by Michael Ramirez)

Furious "No Wall" protesters have done a fine job walling off travelers at airports from getting on and off planes. Street "No Wall" protesters walled off a patient from getting to the hospital.

Roughly 200 demonstrators marched to Route 34 around 5 p.m. carrying a banner emblazoned with the words “No Ban No Wall New Haven,” they blocked traffic on the highway the ambulance was taking.

“Due to this delay ambulance personnel were required to perform an emergency medical procedure in the ambulance instead of at the hospital.”

So why didn't police immediately  bring in the paddy wagons and haul these anarchists away?  Time was, at least in my neck of the woods, you had to have a parade permit  (protests were considered parades). Demonstrate without a permit and your keister would be hauled off to the slammer.   Obstruct traffic?  Hinder medical personnel from attending to a patient or inhibit emergency personnel from getting to an accident or fire?  You could be held responsible criminally and civilly if someone died as a result of your actions.

We have police unwilling or unable to do their jobs.  I'd like to know which is it and why?

Applewood wonders:
"We have police unwilling or unable to do their jobs.  I'd like to know which is it and why?"

Well, this happened in New Haven.
A city "as left-leaning as it gets".
This certainly includes the mayor.
Probably includes those in charge of the police department as well.

Does that answer your question?
