Democrats’ First Piece of Legislation in 2017 Seeks Slavery Reparations

There’s almost a religious vibe to the Left’s style of identity politics today. They’re obsessed over sins of the past – and they’re looking for atonement. Reparations are the most commonly advocated for sacrament in the agenda of liberal identity politics, particularly for slavery. Under them, people who never owned slaves will pay money to people who never were slaves.

Yes – you should pay for the 1.4 percent of Americans who owned slaves over 150 years ago, apparently. Not only did you not benefit from slavery in any way — most Americans didn’t — and those who did saw all the wealth created by slavery destroyed by the Civil War. And how exactly would reparations for slavery work logistically? Personally, my ancestors didn’t come here until the 1930s, so would I be exempt as I don’t have any connection to slavery down my family tree?

From The Washington Examiner:

I want Reparations from the Dems.  Their policies over the last 50 years have enslaved me and chained me and kept me down while paying for their liberal pipedreams.

I am the 2nd generation here on my Mom's side and 3rd generation here on my Dad's side. Nope, my family never owned slaves and weren't even in this country. I demand that not one red cent of mine goes towards this sham.  Next the Hispanics will be demanding reparations because they weren't automatically granted citizenship!

Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Reparations have been paid....to the tune of 620,000 soldier's lives in a war to end slavery (Civil War).

Additionally, trillions in government payouts to the descendants of slaves in the form of welfare and other public assistance. Generous to say the least, and defining it as such in no way minimizes the horror that was slavery. Heck, nearly everyone living has ancestors who endured slavery...shall I sue the Italians because the Romans enslaved 100's of thousands of my German ancestors? Such absurd "retributive debt" would be unending...the evils of the past cannot be undone, and its ludicrous for anyone to call for monetary reparations at this point in history. Pathetic.

How much are the Democrats willing to repay?  Are the Democrats also willing to come out of pocket for segregation reparations as well?
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

They're only doing this as a political stunt because they know it'll never get passed.  It's a freebie that they intend as optics to try and win back the Black support they've lost.

You know it's a bad idea when EVEN your own caucus wouldn't consider it when they controlled everything and a black president to boot!
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

How about a bill which retroactively approves reparations, and concludes that the sums have been fully repaid already with installments ??

Is anyone uncertain Ryan or McConnell will refuse to let the bill come to a vote?
I am.
After 8 years of Obama the GOP is at historic highs for control of Governors, state legislatures, state legislators, and controls the House, Senate, and Presidency.  Is that despite an often embarrassing reputation of racism, or because of it?

The rats would like to believe voting against handouts to the inner cities would be politically damaging to Republicans and could inspire Millennials and Blacks to rally against the GOP.

Stupid rats.
