EPA will not extend review of fuel efficiency standards

Federal regulators will not extend their deadline for comments on strict fuel efficiency standards, effectively allowing them to finalize the standards before President Obama leaves office next year.

In a letter to manufacturers, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rejected an industry request to continue reviewing a November determination from the EPA that reaffirmed the fuel standards.

The November decision keeps in place the 54.5 mile-per-gallon fuel economy target for vehicles in the 2025 model year.

The industry says that standard is too high, and manufacturers call the EPA’s projections — which say vehicles are likely to fail to meet the 2025 standard — too rosy. They have asked regulators to revise the goal Obama established in 2012.

The EPA said in November it would not do so, a decision that kicked off a public comment period. If the agency had extended the comment period as automakers asked, it would have prevented Obama from locking in the fuel standards before he leaves office next month....

And how long did the review of the Dakota access pipeline and Keystone pipeline get extended?

There is no room for political machinations in this agency, and it either needs to be stopped or dissolved.

In Trump's announcement of Scott Pruitt to lead the EPA, it looks like he tapped the right man based on the hysteria from the left.
Scott Pruitt heading the EPA is akin to a pyromaniacal Fire Chief.

Leftism is lethally dangerous. Leftists are not just clowns without make-up who believe that to be "serious-minded" means to put a serious expression on your face when you are lying and lying and lying. Leftism kills innocent people every second of every day.

CAFE standards, driven by detached-from-reality ecoparanoid leftists, are estimated to have cost no less than an additional 10,000 lives annually since they were enacted - because to meet the fuel efficiency standards mandated by Federal bureaucrats , manufacturers had to reduce the weight of automobile frames by making them (wait for it) thinner. Thinner, lighter frames meant less protection in a collision and ergo MORE FATALITIES IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS.

Despite this horror, the Feds have now doubled down on those standards and are on the way to mandating even more reductions in vehicle weight.

That is our government in action, folks. Isn't it GREAT!?!
