Jesse Jackson Wants Obama to Pardon Clinton Before He Leaves Office
Posted By Alyssa Canobbio On November 17, 2016 @ 10:41 am In Politics | No Comments

Civil rights activist Jesse Jackson called for President Obama to pardon Hillary Clinton before he leaves the White House, the Daily Mail reported Thursday.

Jackson, who spoke at an anti-racism rally at the University of Michigan on Wednesday, insisted that while Clinton did nothing illegal, Obama should pardon her so the country could heal and come together.

I'm sure he believes his son did "nothing illegal," too. :tongue2:

That would be the next best thing to an admission that she is in fact guilty.

For us vets out here who sat through the same annual mandatory briefings that Hillary was mandated to attend that specifically covered the care, handling, security, and accountability of classified material there is no doubt at all that she committed many, many felonies.
By everything we were taught in those mandatory briefings Hillary is guilty as hell.

Obama verified that Hillary did attend these mandatory classes.  Being her boss it was his responsibility to make sure that she attended this required training.

Maybe I am missing something, but how can one pardon someone else if nothing done was illegal nor has anyone been even indicted for something?

I do not think that the powers bestowed in Article 2, Sec II are for future criminal acts.  Otherwise, it is an eternal power.

Then you haven't been reading my previous postings on the subject.

The president's "power of pardon" is absolute, and final.
A president can issue a blanket pardon for someone, whether that person has been "charged with a crime" or not.
A president can even issue a pardon if the "pardonee" doesn't want it!
The courts -- including the United States Supreme Court -- have upheld the president's power to do so.

Do you remember Ford's pardon of Nixon?
Do you remember how Carter issued a blanket pardon to all the draft dodgers who had fled to Canada?

Yes, I know about Ford's pardon but that does not mean it was legal.  It was convenient and I do not recall a court accepting it as legal/

The relevant part of the Constitution says

he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and
Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in
Cases of Impeachment.

How do you construe this as saying future Offenses are pardonable?

Can you cite an instance wherein a court acknowledged a pardon for a crime not yet deemed to be committed?

I cannot see it being the case, but perhaps you are more knowledgeable.
