Behind scenes, NBC execs concede Matt Lauer forum performance was "disaster"

NBC News knows the "Commander-in-Chief Forum" was not Matt Lauer's finest hour.

One executive, speaking anonymously, was blunt about it: "Disaster."

The morning after Lauer's back-to-back interviews of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, several high ranking sources at the network said they hear the criticism and agree with at least some of it.

I won't be here after the election and vote.

If Hillary wins - I will be busy, BLOAT! (It won't be long before she won't let you buy.)

If Trump wins, I won't be here to GLOAT. (I don't want to hang around while everyone looks at every speck in his eye.)

He didn't work nearly hard enough to help Hillary.

That's why they're "executives"...

Off with his head.

The news industry brooks no departure from their preferred narrative, do they.

That article just shows how low journalism in general has sunk.  It isn't the job of the interviewer to argue with the interviewee.  It's his job to ask questions, and then let viewers decide what they think of the answers.

One criticism I've seen is that Lauer supposedly "cut-off" Hillary's answers.  But he asked Trump 16 questions, and Hillary only 7, so it's pretty clear which candidate made the lengthier responses.

Ridiculous.

The job of these execs IS NOT to be fair, to be impartial, to educate, not even to ask questions and bring out the truth.

Their job is to sell advertising.   Thats done by getting clicks and manufacturing drama.
