They really don't make them like they used to, this list is proof.
Not only do they not make them like they used to, they don't film them like they used to. Since purchasing an HD tv eight years ago, I've noticed many of the color films of fifty-sixty years ago made in Technicolor look spectacular with HD. Then I watch some of the modern movies with their lousy scripts and made with washed out-gloomy looking film. Not only are the stories awful, they look awful
And modern remakes are awful. I saw "3:10 To Yuma" with Russell Crowe, and it stank to high heaven. I practically laughed out loud at many of the ridiculous scenes.
There have been a few good modern flicks (Slumdog Millionaire for one), but for the most part I'm resigned to watching my favorite old flicks over and over. I've seen "Bad Day At Black Rock" about ten times in the last five years, and I still enjoy it every time. Ditto for "It's A M,M,M,M World" and the original "The Producers" with Zero Mostel. I regard Mostel's performance in that film as the single funniest performance by any actor in all the films I've seen in my life.....and I've seen many thousands.
