many of you here, i am sure, at some point, thought she should be tried for treason and shot.
The human mind processes between 25-50 thousand thoughts per day and has an amazing capacity for imagination as a decision making engine. Even if you are conscious of it, ever time you are faced with a decision or any stimulus, your mind quickly analyzes (imagines) possibilities to weigh favorability for survival based correct decisions.
A healthy mind rejects almost everything instantly, that would be a detrimental thought. Often a child or someone with some disability will focus on and rationalize unhealthy thoughts. An adult (and especially a professional) may have some of those thoughts pass through for conscious decision making but they will reject thoughts that would end in a harmful result to themselves.
Someone with a cognitive disability does not reject harmful thoughts but often will go so far as to verbalize them (and in worst case scenarios, act on them).
So yes, most people would have had that thought, especially when they read something that creates the decision stimulus in their minds. A healthy adult rejects those type of thoughts and certainly doesn't verbalize them.
And no, this isn't about political correctness, it is about being a healthy, functional adult.
The last thing people should want is someone who 'says what they think'. We should want someone who has a healthy mind to filter what they think and make the best decisions in both what they say and what they do.
