Check Out Donald Trump’s First Television Ad Of The General Election [VIDEO]

Posted By Steve Guest On 9:15 AM 08/19/2016

Donald Trump released his first television ad of the general election on Friday entitled “Two Americas: Immigration” which hammers Hillary Clinton as being worse than Barack Obama.

Hillary Clinton in Trump Ad, Screen Grab Team Trump YouTube, 8-19-2016

The ad begins, “In Hillary Clinton’s America: The system stays rigged against Americans. Syrian refugees flood in. Illegal immigrants convicted of committing crimes get to stay. Collecting Social Security benefits, skipping the line. Our border open. It’s more of the same, but worse.”

Then to contrast Trump against Clinton, the voice over then argues, “Donald Trump’s America is secure. Terrorists and dangerous criminals: kept out. The border: secured. Our families: safe. Change that makes America safe again. Donald Trump for President.”

The campaign notes, “The new ad provides a stark comparison between Hillary Clinton’s reality in which Americans are victims of the rigged system in Washington that compromises our borders, jeopardizes our jobs, and flouts our laws, and Mr. Trump’s vision for our country in which we secure our borders and put American jobs and safety first.”

According to the Trump campaign, over the next 10 days, they will spend $4.8 million to air this ad in the battleground states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida.

It was a good ad when pointing out Obama's / Hillary's America, but not convincing at all that Trump will make us safe again which was claimed in the ad.

I am not a fan of fear based campaigning.  It appears to be all that Donald Trump has to offer.  One of my main beefs with the Trump supporters is their extensive use of hyperbole in regard to Clinton.  The repeated characterization of her as the "devil incarnate" and the "end of America" is over the top and repels objectively thinking people.  We have somehow survived 7.5 years of 0bama and yes, there are many things that need to be reversed but I have yet to hear from Trump any concrete solutions to this mess.  The main thing I hear is you have to vote Trump because Hillary.

When he says "we are going to repeal 0bamacare and replace it with something better" what the heck does that mean?  I believe it means he will move us to single payer, which was the plan anyway, and rename it to "Trump New Millennium Spectacular Care."  The documents on his website offer very little in the way of practical explanation, just a lot of generalizations and wishful thinking.

Without details, hyperbole is just pie in the sky hyperbole....

Donald Trump's America? Are you f$$%%^ kidding me. Donald Trump's America??!! Does he think he is running for king? He's asking the American people for a job, he should remember that.

Both of these weasels need to keep their slimy puny mitts off the country.

Dumb ad.  He's appealing to the people he's already got.

  • WE are NOT ok!
The ad is so-so, but Trump has lost so much credibility it's difficult to trust he will do what he says he's going to do.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

The high handed tone of these commercials is disturbing. The country doesn't belong to any one person, our salvation does not come from any one person.

Aside from maintaining an military to protect against foreign invaders, I will thank my government to allow me to protect myself. Which they currently do not.

The guy narrating the commercial is Ben McGill, who was D-Day in Animal House.

Trumps ads are like peeing in a bath tub.  For all the effort you just know you'll never fill it up enough to take a bath.

The Trump campaign has spent more on Mar-a-Lago-related expenses in a single month than on this entire ad buy

Benjy Sarlin @BenjySarlin

First ad buy from Trump is modest. $270k in FL, $72k in OH, $78k in PA. Pro-Clinton side already spent $23m in FL, $17m in OH, $6m in PA.
