They're going for that continental European "right" wing that I have warned isn't like us for years. What we tend to think of as right wing exists almost exclusively in the anglosphere. We recognize conservatism in Canada, Britain, and Australia as similar to our conservatism. In other words, Trump says that when the American citizens living in Arizona need something, he... as the President of the United States of America... will not attend to Americans.

I've written about this as well.  Trump is the catalyst who is drawing out those who want to transform the Republican party from party of principles to one of ethnic nationalism.

Their support was only when it was directed against 'those people' that they didn't think ought to have the benefits of a nanny state.  They've always wanted those benefits for themselves, though.

Hence why you hear so much about ending the government largess... but the numbers never truly add up when a vote comes a'calling.  It's a "cut off the Obamaphones" and not the "make Social Security solvent".
