Insiders: Hillary's not out of the woods yet on emails

'This is not a win,' said an Iowa Democrat. 'Comey eviscerated all the excuses for Hillary and her team’s behaviors.'

The Justice Department has given Hillary Clinton a clean legal bill of health in the long-running saga over her private email server while she was secretary of state, but few Democrats think the news will help her campaign.

That’s according to the POLITICO Caucus — a panel of activists, strategists and operatives in 10 key battleground states. Just under a quarter (24 percent) of Democrats said FBI Director James Comey’s statements this week would help Clinton’s campaign because she avoided criminal charges.

Slightly more Democratic insiders (26 percent) said Comey’s stern rebuke — in which he called Clinton “extremely careless” for using a non-secure platform for her email, which included some classified material — would hurt Clinton’s campaign. Half of Democratic insiders said it would have no impact.

It will have no effect at all when it comes to the votes of Dim Party People. They would vote for a stuffed opossum if you ran one for office as a Dim.

Same as with the alleged Republican Party People.

The people it MAY have an effect on are the mass of people that always end up deciding all national elections, the "undecided voters".

I don't expect this to have much effect on them because the majority of them only seem to start paying attention during the last 30-60 days, and even then they are paying more attention to the candidate's  hair,if the wife has a nice ass, where they went to school, and other trivial nonsense having nothing at all to do with policy issues.

Which is probably why her handlers had it handled now.  They wanted it dead and buried before the conventions. "Old news, let's move on......",and that sort of thing.

I think it will:  A lot of voters under 35 -- the demographic whose emotional response elected Obama  -- will simply stay home this year.  And I think a lot of Bernie Sanders supporters outside that demographic will do the same.  Both candidates are disgusting, and pretty much everybody recognizes that the vile Hillary Clinton got special treatment.  So why vote at all?

I've become convinced Comey made his decision at the request of the RNC.    We're watching theater when we watch the committee.    The last thing the RNC wanted was Hillary disqualified and Biden or someone riding to the rescue.   A destroyed Hillary who is still the nominee was the RNC's best outcome.
America needs God's forgiveness....... Even if Donald Trump doesn't think he does.

You're right on one front—the under-35 crowd is not going to vote for Trump or Clinton.

Gary Johnson seems to have a lot more publicly spoken support this year among my peer group—including from a number of my friends who have typically been solid Republicans. There've been some polls that support this notion. They'll vote, just not for either one of the two major-party candidates.

I'd venture to say that the only reason Clinton and Trump feel safe is because the over-35 crowd is still entrenched in the two-party system.

You could be right on target about people just staying home in disgust, and both candidates sucking all the air off the planet.

I think the "undecideds" will be even  more of a factor this time than any earlier election because so many Party People will finally be disgusted enough to stay home. Regardless of who wins,I'm guessing the percentage of voters in a presidential election this time will hit a all-time low.

The one thing neither will ever run short of will be arrogance.
