Florida woman posed as ICE agent to kidnap ex-boyfriend’s wife, deputies say

BAY COUNTY, Fla. – A Florida woman has been accused of trying to kidnap her ex-boyfriend’s wife, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

In a release, deputies said the situation happened on April 10, which is when they were called to the Bridge Plaza Apartments complex about a “suspicious incident.”

Upon arrival, deputies met with a woman who claimed she’d been kidnapped, the release states.

Investigators said they were able to figure out that another woman — identified as Latrance Battle — had come to her workplace and identified herself as an ICE agent.

According to deputies, Battle had dressed herself up in a black shirt with “ICE” painted on the front, and wielded a sheriff’s office business card and handheld radio, so out of fear, she went along with Battle into her vehicle.

“The victim confirmed that she genuinely felt as if Latrance was an ICE agent at the time, and she is in the process of becoming a legal United States resident,” the release reads.

But while they were both in the car, Battle “forcefully snatched” the woman’s phone from her as she tried to contact her lawyer and husband, deputies added.

Investigators also said that when the duo arrived at the apartment complex, the woman “suspected something was wrong,” as Battle told her they were headed for the sheriff’s office.

“As Latrance went inside the apartment, the victim fled and called law enforcement,” the release continues.
