Baylor fires Art Briles amid scandal

Good, but it's not enough.  Starr is a smoke screen because they intend(ed) to give him the head of the law school after the dust settles.  Now this.  But it's not enough.  This has been going on for YEARS.  I saw it when I was there 35 years ago.  I can't express my hatred for that school.  And my entire family except for my siblings is alumni.  Baylor has been stealing my inheritance under false pretense.

Briles?  I admit that I don't know much about the situation, but what is the claim against Briles?

Tolerating and covering up multiple instances of rape by his football players over several years and recruiting/signing talented athletes with known issues, some who had been dismissed from other programs after charges of violence.  Also intimidating and silencing victims.

Here's one compilation timeline (not mine):  https://m.reddit.com/r/CFB/comments/4gg4wr/comprehensive_baylor_timeline_covering/

Here's the summary report released this week by the Baylor Board of Regents (I understand there's a more detailed one to come):  http://www.baylor.edu/rtsv/doc.php/266596.pdf

And here's the Texas Monthly article that brought the issue to the surface last summer :  http://www.texasmonthly.com/article/silence-at-baylor/

Very.  And sad for the good kids who have been, and will be, hurt by it.  I have no connection to anyone involved, but have been following the story since it came out last summer.

There are apparently many sordid details, but I find it particularly damning that coaches let Ukwuachu go through spring practice last year and talked about him playing in the fall, knowing full-well he was going on trial for rape in the summer.  Was the corruption so widespread that they felt confident he would get off?

This would never have happened in a larger city that didn't owe half of its tourism to a college.
