A plane from the Air Force Thunderbirds flying team crashed in a field in the Security-Widefield area Thursday afternoon.

The pilot ejected, the Air Force said.

Callers told police the pilot was ejected when the plane crashed into a field across from the First Baptist Church, 7925 Fontaine Blvd, near Powers Boulevard. The crash happened about 1 p.m.

No fire has been reported, police said.

Wow!

Gotta be the most intact crashed plane ever.

Some reports suggest that the pilot was able to guide the plane to near the ground prior to ejecting.

Others say suggest it was engine failure (and maybe he just ran out of gas).

Anyway, I guess it's the sort of impressive crash you'd expect from a top pilot....
