Pro-abortion AG sent 11 agents to raid pro-life activist's home
Now critics putting 'corrupt' label on California attorney general
Published: 10 hours ago

California Attorney General Kamala Harris, a candidate for U.S. Senate, is a well-known advocate of abortion-provider Planned Parenthood.

So when she recently dispatched a squadron of 11 agents to the home of David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress to confiscate undercover video recordings that reveal Planned Parenthood’s baby-parts business, the question arose whether she was doing it as attorney general or as a supporter of Planned Parenthood.

“Kamala Harris is engaged in the highest level of corruption and abuse of power,” asserted Penny Nancy of Concerned Women for America.

“While she uses her KGB-like tactics to seize personal property of an innocent American citizen, she’s simultaneously running for U.S. Senate and using her campaign web site to promote and defend Planned Parenthood and its atrocious practice of harvesting, trafficking and selling baby parts.”

The abortion industry’s political influence on the criminal justice system already has been an issue in the case. It began when charges were filed against Daleiden in Texas by a prosecutor whose office has close links to Planned Parenthood.

Harris’ actions demonstrate that she is “incapable of being neutral,” said Tom Del Beccaro, former chairman of the California Republican Party.

“Kamala Harris proved once again that she has no intention of even trying,” he wrote. “In 2015, Harris, a fervent support of Planned Parenthood and they of her, started an inquiry into the Center for Medical Progress videos that exposed the activities at their clinics. In 2016, astonishingly, Harris’ U.S. Senate [candidacy] site contains a page that urges voters to support Planned Parenthood.

“This week, Harris doubled down and ordered a raid of David Daleiden’s home, the main activist behind the videos, in what amounted to judicial excessive force. They were only seizing documents, but somehow needed 11 agents – a force usually reserved for drug dealers.”

He said it is “ethically astonishing that she would continue to lead an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress at the time she advertises the support of Planned Parenthood on her campaign website.”

“This is just more proof that she works for her campaign donors, not the people, and certainly not the cause of justice,” Harris said.

The “corrupt” label for Harris has appeared even on Harris’ own Facebook page, where Dwight Weatherford wrote, “You raid a anti abortion activists home but yet we find out that you took over $15,000 from several Planned Parenthood affiliates … hmm, sounds like a corrupt politician who sold out to special interest to me.”

On the website for Operation Rescue, whose president, Troy Newman, serves on the board for the CMP, Cheryl Sullenger noted: “Since the California Department of Justice, under the leadership of Democratic State Attorney General Kamala Harris, searched the home of David Daleiden on Tuesday, there have been numerous news stories noting an apparent conflict of interest in Harris’ investigation of Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress that ignores obvious evidence of illegal conduct on the part of Planned Parenthood.

“California authorities seized a laptop and hard drives containing the video footage collected during Daleiden’s 3-year investigation of Planned Parenthood’s involvement in the illegal sale of aborted baby remains, according to a written statement made by Life Legal Defense Foundation, which is helping to defend Daleiden.”

She said Harris “chose to focus her investigation on Daleiden and his associates rather than Planned Parenthood, even though the video footage so far released by Daleiden’s Center for Medical Progress shows clear evidence that Planned Parenthood was illegally altering abortion procedures to [obtain] intact organs targeted for harvesting then selling the organs for profit.”

Sullenger said OR has evidence that “supports accusations that Harris’ investigation was politically retaliation, and that the raid on Daleiden’s home represents a frightening attack on free speech, freedom of the press, and our precious guarantee of equal (not biased) protection under the law.”

OR said more than $81,000 has been given to Harris’ campaign from Planned Parenthood and “other abortion promoters.”

“She owes these people for her political livelihood,” Sullenger said. “Harris has shown that she is a puppet of radical leftists with Planned Parenthood and the rest of the Abortion Cartel paying for the right to pulling her strings.”

Harris did not reply to a WND request for comment.

The Legal Life Defense Foundation said the videos, many of which have been made public and are the focus of several investigations in Congress, show, among other things, the CEO of California-based StemExpress talking about it can be “financially beneficial” for abortion providers to sell aborted babies to fetal tissue brokers.

“California’s attorney general has decided that her loyalty to Planned Parenthood requires her to turn a blind eye to the organization’s criminal activities,” said Life Legal Defense Foundation Executive Director Alexandra Snyder. “Instead, she has launched an inquisition into David Daleiden, starting with the seizure of his private property and papers.”

Lila Rose, founder of pro-life Live Action, added: “Harris can’t even pretend to be objective in this case. She has a petition on her campaign website to collect signatures to defend abortion giant Planned Parenthood. And her radical pro-abortion positions are well known, including her sponsoring of a California law to force pro-life crisis pregnancy centers to tell patients where they can go to get abortions.”

Politico reported the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List joined other anti-abortion groups to call for Harris to resign.

“The fact that Ms. Harris is seizing private property of a pro-life California activist who has exposed horrific practices conducted by Planned Parenthood, which donated thousands to her last campaign, while her Senate campaign promotes and defends them – the nation’s largest abortion provider – is a conflict of interest and abuse of government power,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List, said in a statement. “Ms. Harris should resign from her attorney general post and end her bid for the U.S. Senate. She has abused her government office and no longer deserves the public trust.”

LifeNews reported Daleiden said: “The very worst baby body parts violations and Planned Parenthood’s baby body parts harvesting program took place in California. Those clips your viewers just saw were all filmed with Planned Parenthood representatives and Planned Parenthood business partners in the state in California. But instead of investigating them, and instead of going after them, Attorney General Kamala Harris (D), who’s running for Senate, and fundraising on her website off of Planned Parenthood, receives money from Planned Parenthood, just invaded my home the other day, and took all of the video footage, including unreleased video footage.”

The undercover videos were released one by one over 2015 by the Center for Medical Progress.

A Houston grand jury set out to consider the evidence presented by the Center for Medical Progress against Planned Parenthood but ended up indicting the investigators, Daleiden and CMP employee Sandra Merritt. They have been charged with a felony count related to tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to buying human tissue. They are fighting the charges.

Outrage later erupted when it was revealed the prosecutor in the case had been financially and politically supported by a lawyer representing abortionists but one of the lawyers in the prosecutor’s office is a board member for the local Planned Parenthood.

In the first undercover video released by CMP, Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood commented on crushing babies.

“We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact,” she said.
