The liberal hypocrites at Walt Disney threatened this week to stop all film and television production at their Atlanta-based studio unless Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal rejects a sensible religious liberty bill that would protect individuals and businesses from being forced to endorse or facilitate actions that violate their religious beliefs.
Yet according to National Review, these same conniving pieces of rotting excrement plan to open a theme park in Shangai, China this upcoming June.
So let me get this straight …
Disney prefers the abundances of “systematic human-rights abuses, forced abortions, state churches, labor camps and brutal crackdowns” in communist China to American men and women being allowed to uphold their religious beliefs?
Specifically, the pending bill in Georgia would if passed do the following:
“[Protect] pastors from being forced to officiate at marriages that violated their religious beliefs.”
“[Protect] business owners who wished to remain closed on Saturday or Sunday.”
“[Protect] religious organizations from having to rent their facilities for events that violated their beliefs.”
“[Prohibit] the government from taking any ‘adverse action against a person or faith-based organization’ that ‘believes, speaks, or acts in accordance with a sincerely-held religious belief or moral conviction that marriage is or should be recognized as the Union of one man and one woman or that sexual relations are properly reserved to such marriage.'”
Nothing about this bill sounds too controversial to me, but obviously, the derriere-holes at Disney disagree.
Mind you, National Review’s David French noted that the measures cited above have already been watered down by the Georgia legislature, which inserted “language that denies protection for any act of so-called individual discrimination.”
The legislature ostensibly voided the bill, but Disney still felt compelled to pull this stunt regardless.
Cue French FTW:
[Disney’s threat] demonstrates beyond a shadow of a doubt that powerful corporations not only have no interest in protecting religious conscience, they’re doing an American imitation of their Chinese Communist partners’ suppression of faith and free speech.
