Ben Carson: Before I endorsed Trump, I needed to know that he doesn’t believe some of these outlandish things he says

Oh? Which things?

I like the idea of Ben Carson, man of integrity and plainspoken utterer of hard truths, being okay with Trump lying outlandishly to the public about what he thinks so long as he doesn’t really believe it.

Quote
“I needed to know that he could listen to other people, that he could change his opinions, and that some of the more outlandish things that he’s said, that he didn’t really believe those things,” Carson said.

When asked which statements Trump might back away from, Carson demurred.

“I’ll let him talk about that because I don’t think it’s fair for me to relay a private conversation,” he said.

Carson's no doubt getting pushback for sucking up to Trump after all the things he said about Carson.

Trump is a lot like Biden.  For Joe Biden, the dopiness is built into everybody's evaluation of him.

For Trump, the lying bullshit is just part of the package, at least for his supporters.

Is that really true?  I wonder if our Trump supporters here calculate that in when they hear or read the many conflicting/opposing stances he has said.  But, how does that work?  If you don't believe what he is saying, why would you ever support him?

It's not about what he says or does, it's about him.

Don't ask for an explanation.  It's cultish behavior, the kind one expects from adolescent girls.

Lying is a business strategy he touts in The Art of the Deal. He calls it Truthful Hyperbole.

It is always a surprise when I see his supporters cite the title The Art of the Deal because it is obvious they haven't read it. It isn't as positive as they think. It is a cross between used car salesman tactics and riding very close to the ethical line (if not crossing it).

And this won't matter. That Trump is a liar in public, but BC's own mouth, just won't matter.

What will?

Well I believed the promises made by GOPers  for the past few decades and what has it gotten us?

Forget Trump for a moment. (Yes, you can do it!) I wouldn't trust any office seeker these days as far
as I could throw him/her/it. I don't care if they're on the Democratic, Republican, third party,
surprise party, or Tupperware party. A mongoose asking a cobra to dinner is more honest than
a politician seeking votes.

And since not a goddam one of the current pack is saying a thing about what really needs to be done
---namely, not making government "work" but reducing it to its absolute lowest terms---I'm going
to settle grudgingly for "none of the above" come November. Just as I did in 2008 and 2012.
Only because in Nevada that's your only other option. (They did away with the write-in vote quite
some time back.)

We shouldn't trust them.  It's "we the people", not "them the government".

But, some are more honest than others.  There's Charlie Rangel and then there's Mike Lee.  Alan Grayson and Louie Gohmert.
