Marco Rubio has found the bottom of the Republican field just two weeks after making a strong move to try to rise to the top of it.

After finishing second in South Carolina and Nevada, the Florida senator took off the gloves and directly challenged Donald Trump, first on the debate stage and then in a zinger-filled series of campaign stops in which he hammered the front-runner as a “con artist” unfit for the White House and even mocked his “spray tan.”

But Rubio failed to pick up a single delegate in Mississippi or Michigan on Tuesday, placing dead last with single digits in both states and disappointing the elite Republicans who rallied to his side as a way to block Trump from winning the nomination. He placed a distant third in Idaho.

The poor performance also raised doubts about whether Rubio could win his crucial home state of Florida at a time when he desperately needs to start winning. The March 15 winner-take-all contest awards 99 delegates and is one of the best chances to stop Trump from gathering the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the nomination.

It looks more and more like Rubio won't take his home state ... IF you think the people in Michigan rejected him; wait till you see how much his home state rejects him. I think his home state will chew him up and spit him out.  He lied to get into the Senate and then once in the Senate he sold his soul to the GOPe.

"Voters in Michigan, who picked Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich over Rubio, dealt a particularly harsh blow to Rubio's argument that he was better-positioned to win blue and purple states—an upside pitched by his campaign as he lost a swath of southern states that voted last week. Rubio was also losing among voters who decided late, who have supported him in earlier contests"...

Rubio needs to drop out.  ..."Rubio’s consistently poor showing has been so surprising to so many political pundits (myself included) that his campaign will likely be remembered as one of the most disappointing of the past several election cycles..."

Rubio represents everything that Trump supporters are rebelling against.

I thought Rubio might be an option, but now that he's tanking, he really, really needs to get out of the race so that Cruz can beat Trump and we have a Conservative and a decent human being as our nominee.

If not, we have an unmitigated disaster ahead of us.

So does Cruz, but in his short time in the Senate, there isn't much track record to go by. Nonetheless he has a Goldman Sachs crony-capitalist-too big to fail banking, big government connection wife, he votes n both sides of issues, then spins rambling dismissive yarns about it.

Not to mention eligibility.

Give me an example of voting on both sides of the issue.  His track record in the Senate indicates his Constitutional conservative stance, his stance against amnesty, his stance against Obamacare, his stance for 2nd amendment rights, his stance against the Washington cartel, etc.  He has fulfilled his role as a Conservative Republican U.S. Senator quite admirably.

As for eligibility ... so far the courts have ruled in his favor.

If he can't win FL, then yes he needs to go. We jump to a heavy winner-take-all schedule starting then, and if he can't win there, then he just becomes an anchor after that.

Sounds to me like Trump is ready for Rubio to get out so he can pick him up as VP and jump right in bed with the Establishment.

Tripe and lies.  Trump has no voting record whatsoever, so he loses on that one.  You have no earthly idea if Cruz' wife is a crony capitalist.  We know Trump is a crony capitalist and a good one at that because that's the only way you succeed in NYC real estate developments, and he certainly gives no appearance of thinking it sordid, in fact doesn't say anything at all about it.  And Trump has acknowledged connections to at least one person who is mobbed up.

Time to come back to reality.  You can support Trump for whatever reason you want, but you don't get to get away pretending he's not just as dirty, just as establishment, as the people you like to slander with unsubstantiated charges.
