Police said they have charged a man after a suspicious package was found at Gate 5 of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story on Wednesday.

Khalid Mohamed Abdalla, 28, was charged with threatening to bomb, according to a news release. Abdalla, of the 4600 block of Freedom Court, is being held without bond in jail.

Someone called police about 5 p.m. to report the package, but police did not give any updates on what the package may have been. A Facebook post by the base had reported a bomb threat shortly after 6 p.m. Shortly after 8:30, the base said normal operations had resumed.

Police did not release any additional details about the incident.
