Global-warming claim: There'll be no air
Newest warning stuns with forecast of 'depletion of atmospheric oxygen'
Published: 9 hours ago

The seas levels are rising, the plains will turn to deserts, polar icecaps will melt, snow will become an historic artifact, food production will collapse in the heat …

What other dire prediction is coming from the global-warming supporters?

How about one that the “depletion of atmospheric oxygen on global scale (which, if happens, obviously can kill most of life on Earth).”

That comes from a new study titled, “Mathematical Modelling of Plankton – Oxygen Dynamics Under the Climate Change.”

The study information is accessible online for a fee, and the abstract explains, “Ocean dynamics [are] known to have a strong effect on the global climate change and on the composition of the atmosphere. In particular, it is estimated that about 70 percent of the atmospheric oxygen is produced in the oceans due to the photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton.

“However, the rate of oxygen production depends on water temperature and hence can be affected by the global warming. In this paper, we address this issue theoretically by considering a model of a coupled plankton-oxygen dynamics where the rate of oxygen production slowly changes with time to account for the ocean warming,” the report said.

“We show that a sustainable oxygen production is only possible in an intermediate range of the production rate. If, in the course of time, the oxygen production rate becomes too low or too high, the system’s dynamics changes abruptly, resulting in the oxygen depletion and plankton extinction. Our results indicate that the depletion of atmospheric oxygen on global scale (which, if happens, obviously can kill most of life on Earth) is another possible catastrophic consequence of the global warming, a global ecological disaster that has been overlooked.”

What do YOU think? Is climate change real? Sound off in today’s WND poll

At Yahoo News, Taylor Hill explained, “As representatives from 195 nations gather in Paris to hammer out a global agreement to slash greenhouse gas emissions, a new study finds that the failure to do so could leave the world gasping for breath.”

He wrote, “For the study, Sergei Petrovskii, an applied mathematics professor at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, calculated how unrestrained global warming could affect phytoplankton and thus the ocean’s ability to generate breathable air. He ran computer models that looked at what would happen to phytoplankton’s ability to photosynthesize at different temperatures.”

The report said if the world’s oceans get 6 degrees Celsius hotter – what it called “a realistic possibility if global emissions continue unabated” – oxygen production would be halted.

The drop would mean that at sea level the oxygen levels would be what there is now at the top of Mount Everest.

“And as far as I know, people cannot normally stay on Everest without oxygen masks for more than a few minutes,” Petrovskii said in the report.

He continued, Yahoo reported, “A distinct feature of this catastrophe is that there will be few warning signs and little change before it is too late. That’s because phytoplankton can continue to produce oxygen and photosynthesize at levels below 6 degrees of temperature rise.”

WND reported just days ago that a leading U.S. skeptic says a suggested international global warming plan discussed by nearly 200 international leaders in Paris recently would trigger much higher energy costs and lead to thousands of deaths without actually changing the climate at all.

Competitive Enterprise Institute Senior Fellow Christopher C. Horner has tangled frequently with the Obama administration over his efforts to track down energy and environmental policy documents through Freedom of Information Act requests. Horner is also author of “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming” and “Power Grab: How Obama’s Green Policies Will Steal Your Freedom and Bankrupt America.”

Horner said the agreement is largely a done deal but a few, critical issues remain. He said the less that’s accomplished, the better.

“It all comes down to what an email I obtained through litigation with the State Department, reported by the Washington Times … showed,” Horner said.

“The White House emailed at midnight with their climate negotiator saying the U.N. General Assembly president was just asked by Sen. (Ed) Markey (D-Mass.), ‘What do we have to do to get a climate treaty?’ He said one word, ‘Money.’ That’s what it’s about,” Horner explained.

One of the things a lot of that money would be used for is a U.N.-based climate court.

“They’ve actually added a court into the draft now, called the International Climate Justice Tribunal, to threaten us, so that they’ll say, ‘Think of the uncertainty, how you would have to pay for every weather event that occurs everywhere in the world,” Horner said. “You’re agreeing in this document that you caused it.’”

He said the U.N. would then demand immense amounts of money from the U.S. on an annual basis.
