I guess Cruz would have to pick someone palatable to the GOPe now that I think about it.  Rubio is the best in that field, so it makes sense.

Yeah, but Ted Cruz will have to elbow his way past Trump.

"I love Cruz.  But with my heart and mind I don't see him winning."

Buck up, RIV. Ted has been consistently underestimated starting with his senatorial campaign in TX, and yet...

Thanks, Paladin ... but I'm not having a bad day  ^-^ .     The fact is nationally conservatives are a minority in the national minority political party. I'm not seeing victory in this demographic unless the candidate is electric and can connect with voters across the board.  Love him (or dislike him) but this isn't Cruz.

I respectfully but strongly disagree with you on that.

President Ted Cruz.  Imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders.... Imagine a federal government that protects the right to keep and bear arms of all law-abiding Americans....  Imagine a president who stands unapologetically with the nation of Israel...
...Imagine a president who says “I will honor the Constitution, and under no circumstances will Iran be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon.”...  Imagine a president who says “We will stand up and defeat radical Islamic terrorism...”

Cruz 2016.  Reigniting the Promise of America!!   :patriot:

As much of a Cruz fan as I am, I have to say:

I've followed sports long enough to know one thing about power rankings. They're like backsides: everyone has one, and they usually stink.

...and it was also predicted that Trump would quickly slide in the polls and Cruz as the underdog wouldn't last.

Ted Cruz is showing remarkable strength now in light of early predictions and his initial lagging in polls.

Good point.  Might having a moderate running mate add sufficient tempering to the mix to, in your thoughts, make him more electable?

I don't think so.  If anything the differences between the two could become glaring and then problematic.

IMHO, the head of the ticket has to be able to pull in other than conservatives on his own.  The running mate then helps to fill in any gaps.

....been thinking about this one; perhaps Jim Jordan of Ohio.  Helping Cruz get a win in Ohio would be huge -- especially upsetting Kasich!

How did that dynamic play out with Reagan and Bush?
