I guess Cruz would have to pick someone palatable to the GOPe now that I think about it.  Rubio is the best in that field, so it makes sense.

I'm not seeing victory in this demographic unless the candidate is electric and can connect with voters across the board.  Love him (or dislike him) but this isn't Cruz.

President Ted Cruz.  Imagine a president that finally, finally, finally secures the borders.... Imagine a federal government that protects the right to keep and bear arms of all law-abiding Americans....  Imagine a president who stands unapologetically with the nation of Israel...
...Imagine a president who says “I will honor the Constitution, and under no circumstances will Iran be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon.”...  Imagine a president who says “We will stand up and defeat radical Islamic terrorism...”

Good point.  Might having a moderate running mate add sufficient tempering to the mix to, in your thoughts, make him more electable?

I don't think so.  If anything the differences between the two could become glaring and then problematic.

IMHO, the head of the ticket has to be able to pull in other than conservatives on his own.  The running mate then helps to fill in any gaps.

....been thinking about this one; perhaps Jim Jordan of Ohio.  Helping Cruz get a win in Ohio would be huge -- especially upsetting Kasich!
