America, the warlike predatory capitalist, might be considered a virtual definition of deep state."

Yesiree. Crony capitalism is the glue that keeps the wheels of the economy and the society rolling, come democrat or republican, war or peace.

Like it or not, it is the truth.

The article points out that Petreaus is now a partner in KKK, but fails to mention Cheney's years OUT of government, heading Halliburton, when he accumulated seven figure wealth.

The glue is largely non-partisan, hence contributions to both parties.

But historically it has worked. It is better than any other system known to mankind.

No doubt he foresaw the military-industrial complex.

But what about the health care-support industries complex? Or the financial services complex? Or the police-prison industrial complex?

There is plenty of money to be made from attaching your prospects to government, and lobbying the heck for things. The "war on drugs" builds prison populations, which benefit prison builders, operators, union employees, etc.

Government paid medical benefits doctors, nurses, other workers, plus equipment, suppliers, not to overlook Big Pharma.

Take a look at those involved with government bonds. Govt. employees themselves, lawyers, accountants, security firms, brokers, mutual funds, etc. Lot of high paying jobs involved, plus some huge commissions and fees.

But it is essentially the same system that was Rome, Imperial Britain, Pre-Revolution France, the Kaiser's Germany...and Hitler's Germany...all of these used what we call today Crony Capitalism with their own variations put on top, some of those variations were kinder to the people, some were not.  In truth, the only systems of note that strayed from this has been Soviet Russia and Mao's China - there's was truly different and far less successful.

There's a lot more money in fascism than there is in communism.  Eisenhower saw that in Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy and by extension, Imperial Japan.  All that concentration camp slave labor and prison camps in Asia.  It has all come to fruition.
