The "real contenders" boil down to five candidates: former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, said Sabato.
...
There have been several other outsider candidates over the years who have initially gotten high ratings in early state polls, including former Rep. Michele Bachmann, businessman Herman Cain and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in 2012, but "there was no way that any of the trio was going to end up as the Republican nominee for president," and the same holds true for Trump.
...
Meanwhile, among Sabato's "real contenders," each has the potential to rally the support they'll need to become the eventual nominee. Cruz and Kasich joined the "real" list just recently, while Bush, Walker, and Rubio have topped that list all along.

"An unlikely Cruz nomination would represent a triumph of the most conservative elements of the party, while an unlikely Kasich nomination would mean a win for the party’s least conservative voters," Sabato said. Kasich's path is more typical than Cruz's, but the party has moved more to the right, he added.

Definitely couldn't disagree more with this op-ed piece.  People are obviously tired and disgusted with politicians in general; especially the GOPe.    The party itself hasn't moved more to the right, but the voters have moved more to the right.  Yes granted Trump and Carson are polling well very early on, but the MSM took out Bachmann, Gingrich and Cain.  That isn't happening here.  Trump is taking all the heat and in doing so has actually risen.

I think your right Liberty.
Although I am not crazy about Fiorina, I think she is stronger than Walker and Kasich and will only get stronger.

No the ONLY people concerned by the so called GOP establishment, are a fraction to the right of them which is so small they cannot do anything without joining somebody else.

For example they couldn't re-place Boehner or McConnell. And they couldn't get their people elected in Nov. 2014, either.

They make a lot of noise, but on their own carry little real power. Narrow but deep and loud.

There isn't a huge difference between Boehner, McConnel, Reid or Pelosi. Most of Washington is just one big country club and obviously people or disgusted with the situation and tired of the Washington cartel otherwise Bush would be soaring in the polls over Trump and Carson.
