A 49-year-old man with a history of violence has been charged with multiple counts of capital murder in the deaths of five children and three adults whose bodies were found at a northwest Harris County home Saturday night.

Deputy Thomas Gilliland, spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's Office, identified David R. Conley III as the suspect in the case. Gilliland said the relationship between Conley and victims is unclear. Investigators are also still trying to determine how they were killed.

Deputies responded to a welfare call around 9 p.m. in the 2100 block of Falling Oaks, near Veterans Memorial and Fallbrook Drive. Gilliland said deputies made repeated attempts to see if anyone would come to the door. They then learned that a male in the home had a warrant for an aggravated assault of a family member.

Members of the High Risk Operation Unit were called to the scene to enter the home. While that call was placed, deputies surrounded the residence and checked through windows when they spotted the body of a juvenile inside.
