(WASHINGTON POST) Two men were arrested Sunday night and early Monday in separate attempts to gain access to the White House grounds, according to the U.S. Secret Service.
The first incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. along East Executive Avenue NW, near the Sherman monument. Brian Leary, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service, said a man climbed over a bicycle rack and was arrested. He was taken to the D.C. police department’s Second District station and charged with unlawful entry.
Leary said that about 6:45 a.m. Monday, another man tried to walk into a door leading to a construction site at Pennsylvania Avenue and East Executive Avenue. Leary said a worker was leaving and the man tried to get through the door before it closed.
