Journalists Appalled, Shocked Obama White House Would Lie to Them

10/9/2014 9:30:00 AM - Katie Pavlich

Late last night the Washington Post broke a story about a connection between White House aides and the 2012 Secret Service prostitution scandal. When the scandal broke two years ago, the White House denied involvement or knowing about the details of what happened. The Post story proves otherwise and provides evidence a White House volunteer officially checked a prostitute into his hotel room in Cartagena, Colombia. The report also details threats made against the Inspector General, who was asked to delay the release of embarrassing and damaging information about the connection between the White House and the scandal until after the 2012 presidential election.

Now, journalists who cover the White House are confused about why the administration would lie and cover-up such a minor issue. That's the point.

Amazing to me WH would go so far to cover up a volunteer staffer hiring a hooker... b/c of fear of election fallout? http://wapo.st/1tDk8n6

WTF??? That is the most appalling thing I've heard a Journo say lately.  That this idiot Josh Kraushaar still has a reporting gig is probably even more outrageous a stain on the "profession" than the statement itself.

First instinct is to trust?  Are you mad?  I'm not even going to get into this Rep vs Dem bifurcation...I don't ever want to see a Journo trusting any White House.  They're not there to simply act as Press Agents for any pol.

"Journalists" are clearly the stupidest people on the planet.

Anyone with any observation skills knew that this White House hasn't told the truth about ANYTHING.

And the disease goes all the way to the top.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.

This is a small lover's spat. It won't change anything, those journalists are too indoctrinated, and too stupid to change.

My first thought.
The height of naivete.
Journalist needs to have a new, more accurate definition.

The current problem lies not with the job description of "journalist", but with the willingness of many to live up to the responsibilities implied by that title.

Some are simply blinded by ideological fealty. Others appear to value honesty less than they do celebrity and/or access to power.

The title of "journalist" also carries with it an historical implication of honor, as well as a certain social cachet, far more so than would an appellation of "propagandist for the state".

They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Unfortunately, the small percentage of the electorate that even watches what passes as 'news' these days has an equally stupid instinct to believe these 'journalists'.

That's a tough combination to beat...

I miss the olden days when Desk Editors told reporters, "If your Mother tells you she loves you, check it out!!"  Now reporters' first instinct is to trust the White House.  Sheer madness.  I don't want them trusting their sources, it doesn't matter which Party it is, they're all liars at heart.

Imagine that.  A politician lying....
The media's purpose is to enhance stockholder equity/dividends/price, nothing to do with the truth, no matter which side of the conversation they purport to be on.

Let's rewrite your last sentence with a little more clarity:
"Now reporters' first instinct is to trust a democratic White House"

Change "democratic" to "Republican", and their first "instinct" would be to hold anything and everything said by the White House as suspect on its face (while in their hearts, they would believe that everything that comes out of a Republican's mouth is a lie)...

They need to be that way with any White House, so I don't mind them being tough with a Republican bunch.  It's what makes us different from them.
