Title: Drudge's annoying auto-play ads
Post by: olde north church on July 02, 2013, 09:36:28 pm
Auto-play ads are really starting to get on my last nerve.  Now they are on Drudge?  Aarrggghhhh!
Rant over.
Mods, remove this if you wish.  Need to grumble.

I don't recall ever seeing any autoplay ads there... of course, I use Android, and the browser doesn't support Flash, so that might be why.

One of the things, though, that might be behind all those ads is end-user adware; I know of some software that injects advertising into pages that otherwise don't have it. That usually is not from Drudge, as much as his detractors want to say it is.

Brietbart has them all the time.  One reason I always write "video at link" rather than ask to have them embeded here, they bug the heck out of me.

flowers auto-play is an ad on a site that plays as soon as you click on the link rather than if you click on it to listen.

Breitbart is absolutely terrible when it comes to ads. I've had browsers on my Windows computer block access to Breitbart because some of their ads show up on their malware lists. (I have that happen every once in a while with the Daily Caller, but not nearly as often, and their ads are far less invasive.)
