You missed a crucial part of this article:
BMW has a manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina where it builds its X3, X4, X5 and X6. Roughly 65% of the cars produced at BMW's South Carolina facility are exported overseas, according to the Reuters report.
Volkswagen has a facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Mercedes-Benz has one in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Not saying that Trump isn't capable of doing this, but the story seems awful short of facts and full quotes. This is one of those times that I think I'll hold off on my indignation until I see some factoids.
-
"Reportedly?" Typical Business Insider BS.
-
Trump said some pretty stupid things about trade.
Fact is, BMW is actually a net exporter from its U.S. factories, so if Trump wants to reduce BMW's sales of cars, the only people who are going to be hurt are the American factory workers who would get laid off.

We don't need those Kraut's cars over here. I've never forgiven them for Bombing Pearl Harbor. Screw those Jerry bastages.

Uhhhh..... you do realize, I trust.... that Der Spiegel is the German version of National Enquirer here in the states.... and ergo, is about as reliable for reporting truthful news as is Her Evilness, herself..... not to mention anything coming out of lamestream media and/or the DNC these days.
Right?
What participants? No names? Unnamed sources? Really?????
Spiegel reports that it learned of Trump's comments from participants in the meeting.

Actually, no, it's not the German equivalent of the National Enquirer. Try again.

Not to mention the fact that the Enquirer is given high praise by Trump.
