Hollywood Prepping Anti-Fracking Zombie Film

by Christian Toto 30 Aug 2013, 11:11 AM

Japanese filmmakers in the 1950s used the country's anxiety over nuclear weapons to bring Godzilla to life.

Flash forward more than half a century, and an American film wants to show us the downside of the fracking process.

Cue the zombies.

Mischa Barton, best known for The O.C., gave a sneak peek at her upcoming film which pairs zombies with fracking.

"It's a zombie, post apocalyptic movie about fracking, the effects of fracking ... zombies created through something in the fracking sites," Barton gushes during a chat on HuffPo Live. "I really like this script, it's just interesting, like nothing I've ever read."

That's not entirely true. Matt Damon's Promised Land also attacked fracking, and it proved as dead as a zombie at the box office late last year.

Celebrities like Yoko Ono and Mark Ruffalo have been speaking against fracking for some time, although the Barton film marks the first time the undead have entered the debate.

Zombie Killers: Elephant's Graveyard, due in 2014, co-stars Billy Zane and Dee Wallace
