why subsidize batteries when hydrogen fuel cells are the better EV option?

Another barrier to the adoption of hydrogen fuel cars is the high cost of production and storage. Hydrogen gas is primarily obtained through electrolysis, which requires a significant amount of energy. Currently, most hydrogen is produced using fossil fuels, which defeats the purpose of reducing carbon emissions.Oct 24, 2023

Why are we still not seeing hydrogen cars on our roads?

Why don't we have hydrogen fuel cell cars?
Unfortunately, a hydrogen fuel cell offers few advantages over a battery, with several deal-breaking disadvantages. The problems that show no sign of really being overcome include cost, lack of infrastructure and relative inefficiencies in delivering hydrogen to customers.Jan 27, 2023

Why is hydrogen not used as a fuel in cars?
Hydrodgen is highly explosive : Using it as domestic fuel is very dangerous, because even a small spark can cause ucontrolled combustion leading to huge explosions. It does not burn at a slow rate. Transport of hydrogen is very difficult.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are the downsides of hydrogen fuel cells?
Disadvantages:
Expensive to manufacture due the high cost of catalysts (platinum)
Lack of infrastructure to support the distribution of hydrogen.
A lot of the currently available fuel cell technology is in the prototype stage and not yet validated.
Hydrogen is expensive to produce and not widely available. Privacy.
