CNN has breached every possible avenue of trust they had remaining by threatening to blackmail a private American citizen this week.
The network, which has been mercilessly lambasted by the President of the United States for their obvious liberal slant, recently became incensed at a silly .gif file floating around the internet that was retweeted by Trump himself. In the clip, Donald Trump’s short-lived wrestling career is on display as the now-Commander in Chief is shown beating on WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin with a CNN logo superimposed over his face. It’s a funny use of poor digital editing, meant to symbolize the President’s concern over the legitimacy of the doomed “news” agency.
CNN, however, took their reaction too far.
In the aftermath of the clip being retweeted by the President, CNN worked tirelessly to uncover the .gif’s creator, and eventually tracked them down via social site Reddit. CNN then did the unthinkable, threatening to reveal the personal information of the currently-anonymous American; a move that would open this clever individual up to harassment and possible violence in the face of an increasingly radicalized left. Due to this absurd and unacceptable abuse of power, CNN has become the focus of an enormous backlash.

I have heard from commentators on TV, and have read a few articles that say that is what is going to happen. Zucker will be out soon enough. He has all but destroyed the CNN brand name. People well above his pay grade want him fired and replaced, as soon as possible. This latest controversy could be the tipping point that makes it happen.

This is even worse because with Rather, the circle of influence was rather small and that was pre-social media. Now, they are hitting not just politically active, but going against the Reddit masses. They wont see this as political opposition but on opposition to their internet privacy.

I get what @skeeter is saying. This was originally a Trump screw up, but CNN went and stepped on a rake and made it all about them.
I was just checking out CNN's Twitter feed. Man, they're getting roasted to hell and back. It's entertaining, lol.

I'm saying that having a somewhat erratic, non-traditional president is causing all of the usual players in our political kabuki show, where the outcome has been preordained ('progressives' gaining while conservative minded take it in the backside) for years to go completely out of their minds for everyone to see, Cap't Queeg style.
Whether you like Trump or not this IMO is a very good development.

#CNNBlackmail has indeed been trending worldwide today. 1.3 million tweets the last time i looked. Twitter did indeed remove it from the trending column while it was at its peak. Numbers are numbers that can be easily verified.
