Hamas Declares That It Will Make No Further Concessions ...
By John F. Di Leo

Reuters reports that “Hamas says it will not compromise further with Israel to win Gaza ceasefire.”

It’s just another headline about the heirs of Yassir Arafat; we know better than to take the statement seriously.  Hamas will keep talking as long as they can, for obvious reasons.

The people engaged in negotiations, at least, if not their foot-soldiers, are safe while they’re at the negotiating table.

But there’s a different question that ought to be inspired by that quote:  Why is any kind of compromise even an issue?

In a normal war, between two legitimate governments, one hopes for negotiations, discussions, compromises, whatever it takes to bring an end to hostilities.

This is not a normal war.

The CDC’s Latest Myocarditis Study is a Con Job
By W.A. Eliot

Stung by media reports of young athletes dropping dead seemingly often and everywhere, and sensitive to the claim that studies relying on the passive VAERS reporting system drastically underreport vaccine events including deaths, the CDC looked at Oregon death certificates in an effort to eliminate reporting bias on COVID-19 vaccination deaths.  Here are excerpts of the abstract of its April 11, 2024 study:

COVID-19 vaccination has been associated with myocarditis in adolescents and young adults, and concerns have been raised about possible vaccine-related cardiac fatalities in this age group…To assess this possibility, investigators searched death certificates for Oregon residents aged 16–30 years who died during June 2021–December 2022 for cardiac or undetermined causes of death. For identified decedents, records in Oregon’s immunization information system were reviewed for documentation of mRNA COVID-19 vaccination received ≤100 days before death…No death certificate attributed death to vaccination. These data do not support an association between receipt of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine and sudden cardiac death among previously healthy young persons. COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all persons aged ≥6 months to prevent COVID-19 and complications, including death.

I know exactly what you’re thinking:  “There needs to be a quick and devastating published take down of its premises.  I don’t see anything like that on line yet — is it underway?”

Answer: Yes, right here.

The CDC admits there is a small probability of COVID vaccine-induced myo- or pericarditis (henceforth “myo”), see, e.g., here and here, but it can’t get itself to admit there is any measurable risk of COVID vaccine-induced myo death, even to the point of dishonesty.  So let’s do the calculations ourselves.

In an Israeli Pfizer study appearing in the October 2021 NEJM, the myo incidence for those aged 16-29 (virtually identical to the age group in the Oregon study) with at least one dose is 5.49 per 100,000, or 1 in 18,215.

Quote
Watch the incredible level of extremely childish pettiness displayed by Greek Eurovision contestant Marina Satti while Israeli contestant Eden Golan was being interviewed. However, don't blame Greece entirely for Satti's behavior. Although her mother is Greek, her father was a Sudanese Arab. It will be interesting to see if Satti will apologize SINCERELY for her horrible behavior or will she continue to act like a pathetic child.

Judge quashes Trump effort to subpoena documents from DA Bragg's investigation

Judge Juan Merchan has denied former President Trump’s request to subpoena Mark Pomerantz, a former prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney's office who left and then wrote a book.

According to a court filing, Trump had sought various documents from Pomerantz during his time as a special assistant district attorney. Trump wanted documents from Pomerantz from Feb. 2, 2021 to Feb. 23, 2022, including materials that dated up until a month before the prosecutor left the DA's office.

The judge wrote the requests “are far too broad and amount to and improper fishing expedition into general discovery." He also said Trump's legal team sought info on topics that are not relevant.

Republicans have claimed that Pomerantz was biased against Trump and politicized the investigation.

In a report released last month, the House Judiciary Committee argued the Manhattan District Attorney's Office "allowed political motivations and animus to infect its prosecutorial discretion."

The GOP-led committee released a 300-page report titled "An Anatomy of a Political Prosecution: The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office Vendetta Against President Donald J. Trump."

Pomerantz testified before the committee in a deposition as part of the investigation. Pomerantz declined to answer most questions, but told the committee that was largely due to the then-pending investigation into Trump.

Pomerantz, a donor to Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign, previously worked on the Trump investigation with ex-prosecutor Carey Dunne under District Attorney Alvin Bragg's predecessor, former Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance. Both Pomerantz and Dunne resigned after Bragg took the helm and raised doubts about pursuing a case against Trump.

After Pomerantz resigned, he wrote a tell-all book based on the investigation, which was still ongoing. The book seemingly made the case to charge Trump.

The committee quoted Pomerantz's book, which they said revealed "his animus, both personally and politically against Trump."

Pomerantz wrote in his book of his "enthusiasm to work on the investigation," but said it "had nothing to do with [his] views about Trump's politics." However, he admitted that he was "not a fan" of Trump, and "had little regard" for him.

I can smell this image ...

Me, too...

As a boy back in the '60s, having a cap gun meant hours of fun during the summer... playing war games while hiding behind trees and rocks, coming out to "blast" the "enemy" (really one of your friends, of course).

We used to pretend we were fighting the Germans or Japanese... probably because we didn't want to think about our older brothers, some of whom were off fighting in Vietnam.

Joe Biden's Social Media Team Did Not Just Tweet This
Matt Vespa

There’s no way the administration is this dense. They’re all wrong, of course, but no one on staff here can be this tone-deaf, can they? The president has been busted for cutting off bomb shipments to Israel to oppose their ongoing ground operation in Rafah, the last Hamas bastion in Gaza. If it continues, he warns more aid could be cut off. It’s why these developments make tweets like this look stupid:

https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1788575316761362889

You cannot make this up.

You literally are leaving Israelis behind, Joe. Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran have attacked them, and you’re trying to tie their hands behind their back. It seems you’re angrier at Israel than Iran, which launched a ballistic missile salvo directly at the Jewish state not so long ago.

Is this about not losing Michigan? We get it—if you lose Michigan, your presidency is likely over. I also feel that this ‘suck up to the antisemites, proto-Nazis, and radical Islamic extremists in your party’ approach will lose twice as many American Jewish voters for every pro-Hamas clown you manage to keep in the Biden tent for 2024.
