Andrew McCabe offered his most candid remarks to date on the FBI’s decision to open the Trump campaign investigation, as well as about the Steele dossier.
The former FBI deputy director was largely defensive of both, but he said dossier author Christopher Steele acknowledged he could not vouch for the accuracy of some parts of his report.
McCabe, a CNN analyst, is under Justice Department investigation. He spoke at an event hosted by his CNN colleague, Carl Bernstein.

Andrew McCabe, the embattled former FBI deputy director, said at a recent event that former British spy Christopher Steele disclosed to FBI investigators that his infamous anti-Trump dossier

He's like prison inmate who wants to use the information he has to cut himself a deal.  By letting out a bit here and a bit there, he's telling the powers that be he roll on his own people if they cut a sweet enough deal.

I wouldn't trust anything McCabe says.
Under oath, or otherwise.

He's like prison inmate who wants to use the information he has to cut himself a deal.

Not so much like a real prison inmate like Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, or Michael Flynn who flipped to cut deals.  More like a metaphorical inmate who flips in an alt-right nocturnal emission fantasy.

Or he's promoting his book @rangerrebew

This is not new news if you were keeping up with this near its beginning.  The FBI knew Steele, had used him themselves for info. in the region where Steele lived and in other countries outside England, especially Russia as he had done work there for a long time and had contacts there.

When Steele put the dossier together, he has said parts were disturbing and that is why he took it to a friend at the FBI, and asked for them to investigate to determine if those parts were true.  This is the beginning of the Steele dossier story just as McCabe said in this article.

The missing part is the FBI didn't determine it was true, but used it in the FISA court anyway, while not leveling with the Judges about the provenance of the "dossier."
