Gov. Newsom Attacks Beachgoers, Threatens to Extend Lockdowns, While Releasing “High Risk” Sex Offenders
By Pamela Geller - on April 30, 2020
How the Left Destroys the Nation

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer on Tuesday issued a warning to residents after seven registered sex offenders who he said were “high-risk” were recently released from custody early, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The DA called the men “the most dangerous kind of criminal and the most likely to reoffend.”

“These are not the kind of people who should be getting a break,” he said.

Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes announced Tuesday that the jail population in the county has been reduced by nearly 45% since March 7.

I'm still amazed that in a 'representative republic', with a 'free press' where elected officials are supposedly 'accountable to the people' Governor Dingaling never finds himself in a venue where he is forced to publicly defend his policies using his own pie hole & pea brain.

Because that is not what we are anymore.   There is no true adversarial press,  it's all about the news that fits the agenda of one party.

And thats why rat politicians have become unmoored from reality. An extremely dangerous condition.

Agreed.  The most dangerous and irresponsible actor in America today is the so-called mainstream media.  They are "mainstream" in the same sense that Pravda was the USSR's mainstream media.

Low angle pictures distort distances between people in the depth direction (unless you have objects of known size between the subjects). So the low angle pics from FL, CA, and NY/NJ are visually deceptive, and high angle or overhead pictures show that many people (or family groups) are distancing.

That said, a warm sunlit areas like SoCal beaches were last weekend are deadly environments for many viruses, including this coronavirus. I don't think Goobernor Nuisance is as much a tyrant-wannabe as MI's Whitmer, but his one-size-fits-all-counties approach is foolish, and clamping down when things are obviously improving shows his fundamental ignorance of human nature. He thinks people are sheeple to be herded, ****sheep**** .

Didn't Nuisance just close all the beaches as punishment for behavior he didn't like?

Last I heard, some counties or cities have opened their beaches, with normal distancing guidelines and others have closed them.

The decision to release the sex offenders was not made by Governor Newsom, contrary to the GellerReport headline:

Orange County, California District Attorney Todd Spitzer says he’s calling out the court for using the coronavirus pandemic to justify releasing seven convicted sex offenders who were in jail for violating their parole requirement to be tracked by a GPS device.

On Friday, D.A. Spitzer explained in an interview on Fox & Friends First that the court had released seven “convicted, high-risk sex offenders” who were in jail for attempting to avoid detection:

But, yeah. The court moronically released sex offenders who were in jail for removing or disabling their GPS bracelets!

Manageable, well-behaved crowds hit NJ beach on 1st day back
By WAYNE PARRY

ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK, N.J. (AP) — From the weather to the schools of dolphins and the (mostly) well-behaved crowds, everything and everyone seemed to cooperate at a sprawling oceanfront park Saturday as New Jersey reopened its state parks to a populace itching to get sand between their toes after months of being cooped up due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Island Beach State Park in Ocean County was among the parks to reopen, drawing several hundred people to a beach that routinely handles thousands during the summer.

In the four hours that an Associated Press reporter watched the crowd, almost all of them complied with a requirement that they stay at least six feet apart to prevent the spread of the virus. ...

Orange County DA 'outraged' after commissioner releases 7 dangerous sex offenders due to COVID-19 restrictions
Fox News, May 2, 2020

Orange County, Calif. District Attorney Todd Spitzer stated Saturday that he is "outraged" after the state ordered the release of seven high-risk sex offenders from the county's jails over concerns they could contract coronavirus.

Appearing on "Fox & Friends Weekend" with host Jason Chaffetz, Spitzer said that the issue at hand is not just in Orange County or California, but "is a ruse that has been pulled on the American public, on jails and custodial facilities all over the nation."

"We've all been told that during the pandemic we needed to release people early, you know, with less than 30 days on their sentence and things like that because of the underlying health pandemic and the fact that we needed to exercise social distancing within the custodial facilities," he remarked.

"However, as you know, in the United States today there is a social justice agenda to end bail for those who are incarcerated and this has gone too far.

"In other words, in Orange County, our jails now are down by 45 percent in terms of their capacity. Our sheriff has indicated he has no overcrowding problem at all. So, why do our magistrates- in this case, one court commissioner -- continue to release people early?"

[...]

Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes also argued in a statement released Wednesday that the jails are not currently overcrowded, social distancing and quarantine measures have been put in place, thus stressing that freeing these inmates was not necessary.

"These inmates were released by court order, and are not in any way connected to the measures I have taken to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the Orange County Jail," said Barnes. "We have responsibly created the capacity needed in the jail to house sex offenders and other dangerous criminals. I oppose efforts that excuse criminal behavior and jeopardize the safety of our community."

Between closing the beaches and this, Newsom sure seems to have a serious hate-on for Orange County.

Thanks @PeteS in CA   Good to know Newsom is on the side of Orange County.
