Police: 6 people and assailant dead in Walmart shooting

13 minutes agoCHESAPEAKE, Va. (AP) — A shooter opened fire in a Walmart in Virginia, leaving six people dead, police said, in the country’s second high-profile mass killing in a handful of days. The assailant is also dead.
The store in Chesapeake was busy just before the shooting Tuesday night with people stocking up ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, a shopper told a local TV station.
Officer Leo Kosinski couldn’t say how the shooter died but said that he didn’t believe police fired shots. It was not clear who the shooter was or what their motive might be.
“I am devastated by the senseless act of violence that took place late last night in our city,” Mayor Rick W. West said in a statement posted on the city’s Twitter account Wednesday. “Chesapeake is a tightknit community and we are all shaken by this news.” ...

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Details are still developing after a deadly shooting at the Walmart Super Center on Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake late Tuesday night.
Police confirm there are multiple fatalities, and that the gunman is dead.
In a tweet, Walmart said, "We are shocked at this tragic event at our Chesapeake, Virginia store. We’re praying for those impacted, the community and our associates. We’re working closely with law enforcement, and we are focused on supporting our associates." ...

Six people are dead after a gunman opened fire inside in a Chesapeake, Virginia, Walmart roughly an hour before the store was scheduled to close late Tuesday night.
CNN reports the shooting suspect is also dead.
NBC News notes police could not say how the shooting suspect died, but they “didn’t believe he was shot by police.”
Chesapeake Mayor Rick West released a statement, saying: “I am devastated by the senseless act of violence that took place late last night in our City. My prayers are with all those affected — the victims, their family, their friends, and their coworkers.”
West also praised the “quick actions” of first responders.

BTW,I have a serious question that I THINK I already know the answer to,but I do not know the specifics in any respect.
Given the technology and record-keeping ability of gooberments today,HOW THE HELL is it possible for creatures like this to advance THAT far into insanity and violence without "the authorities/their families or coworkers" taking notice and then taking action to prevent it from happening?
I am positive there are VERY rare cases of someone just "popping their tops" and going from respectable and peaceful citizen to Mad Max with no warning whatsoever,but I expect they are rarer than virgins in college.
SO........,WTH are we,as a society,NOT holding the courts,judges,police,social workers,etc,etc,etc responsible for NOT reporting these people to the courts so they can be detained and found to be either safe or dangerous?
Is this not WHY the courts and prisons exist?
BTW,I am NOT trying to claim the public officials mentioned above are physic. I am just stating that given their educations,their positions,and their authority,they SHOULD be in a position to notice a breakdown as it is happening. People do NOT go from being a peaceful,law-abiding citizen to a mad dog psycho killer overnight. It is a gradual process,and we ALREADY HAVE A SYSTEM IN PLACE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO TAKE NOTE OF THESE BREAKDOWNS BEFORE THEY BECOME DEADLY.
I am also NOT saying "lock these people up and throw away the key!" just because they SEEM to be "losing their personal cool".
AND......,if the people in the court system,the mental health/public health system,as well as various related agencies can not do this,WHY THE HELL are we paying them? Fire them and hire somebody willing to do the damn job!
After all,how complex can it be for a social worker type to suspect someone is losing their grip,and then make an appointment for them to come in and seek professional help for their problem,IF they have a problem? Pretty much everybody that is a part of that "system" is already on a list and receiving government compensation as well as medical care every month. Tell them they either come in and cooperate or their monthly checks get cut off and they have arrest warrants issued.
Yes,I do realize that neither this or any other system is perfect,but just look at how many lives can be saved by just spotting and going after the most obvious ones?
AND,of course,anyone detained by this program WILL be represented in court by a legal aide attorney.
Even nutcases have rights that need to be protected.

Andre Bing, 31, opened fire in the breakroom of the Walmart in Sam’s Circuit, Chesapeake, at 10.12pm last night, where 14 employees had gathered for a pre-shift meeting.
There were 50 people inside the store at the time, likely finishing some last-minute Thanksgiving errands.
Bing opened fire in the breakroom at the back of the store. He shot ten people before killing himself.
When police searched his body, they found a list of names that contained the names of the colleagues he wished to target, according to local Virginia outlet WAVY, citing an anonymous source.
Two of the victims were found next to Bing in the breakroom when police arrived, and a third was found at the front of the store.
Three others were taken to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
Four people are still in the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Former colleagues today described Bing as ‘weird’ and revealed he was so paranoid about being watched by the government that he taped over the camera on his phone.
