Who won’t be at Trump’s State of the Union address
At least 4 are standing the president up, others will wear white to promote a ‘pro-woman’ agenda
At least four Democrats have openly announced they’re playing hooky for President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight.
Reps. Earl Blumenauer, Hank Johnson, Steve Cohen, and John Lewis will not attend the address, Trump’s third speech to a joint session of Congress at the Capitol.

Was Tulsi on the above list? So,
A US-backed Kurdish group fighting to stop the US withdrawal from Syria has scored an unlikely invite to tonight’s State of the Union address from a congresswoman well known for her stance against American interventionism.
In a statement this afternoon, longshot 2020 presidential contender Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, announced that she had invited Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) co-president Ilham Ahmed to President Donald Trump’s address. Gabbard called Ahmed “a leader in the battle against ISIS in Syria.†ISIS is an abbreviation for the Islamic State.

Trump gives nod to women elected in midterms: "We also have more women serving in Congress than at any time before." This is popular on both sides of the aisle. "And congratulations, that's great," he says. NRCC not so happy about how it happened, but a nice bipartisan moment.

Abortions are allowed at various stages before a child is born, but the Virginia governor says it is okay to kill babies AFTER they are born alive. And, he didn't put an age limit on when not to kill it. All of us are born alive babies and we could be killed now due to no age limit on when you couldn't kill it. Can you say, "murder"?
If the Virginia governor quit being governor and opened his medical office to treat children, would you take your child to him? This man approves of murder.

What’s your point? People who don’t work already get paid leave in the form of welfare. This is a terrible idea. Whenever the government pays for something, they inevitably start dictating the terms and actions. See healthcare and education as examples.

Back before paid leave became an issue., years ago when I was pregnant and working (not many pregnant women in the workforce back then), my employer offered to give me 6 weeks of PAID leave because he felt that it was the right thing to do. In fact, he left it up to me as to when I felt I was ready to come back. I returned within 5 weeks.
We need to start making children and family priorities. Our children ARE our future.

Yep. I won't say my wife hasn't worked, because taking care of the home and the (now grand)kids while I am working is a full time 24/7 job, but she hasn't worked aside from that for twenty years. Because she is the family matriarch, she ends up 'filling the gap' for grandchildren and even great grand children whose parents are working.
(It takes a family to raise a kid!)

Work there a couple of yrs and now around 18 yrs at Sam's. I don't know if I'll ever get her to retire. Our 3 kids grew up all right.

Two minutes alone in a locked room with you would work wonders as well!
Sounds good to me. I only need 90 seconds, and you're bottom.

Wit a small tribe of extended family around, my wife gets plenty of social interaction (some days more than she really wants, despite loving all the kids). I think that makes a difference.

This speech provides more proof there was Divine intervention on November 8, 2016.
:patriot:
A speech proves divine intervention? Jesus is gonna bitch slap that guy when he comes back.
A lot of embarrassing praise for a lot of hot air, all over this thread. It wasn't a terrible speech. It's a terrible speaker. President Trump did a good job praising his accomplishments and he said lots of stuff I want to hear, but I know the President is a huge, huge liar. Why would I believe any of his facts or promises? I'm still waiting for the apprehension of Hitlery, swamp draining, deficit reduction, repeal & replace Obamacare, PP defunding and a wall.
-
Tuned in for 2 minutes to CNN to hear Kasich flap his jaws about the President's speech. 2 minutes was all I could take ... he doesn't know jack! He came across nervous and uncertain as to what he's saying. Glad he's gone.
Kasich; another one that epitomizes the #nevertrumper faction.

I though he gave quite an impressive speech actually and I was glad that I decided to tune in. He kicked booty tonight. He has accomplished a lot in the 2 years he's been president and he has 2 more years till his term is up.
He sent a clear message to the DEMS; it is time to come together for the sake of the country and the American people. America watched. The DEMS need to listen.

I broke up with a girlfriend, and she said I'd never find someone like her again. Her particular crazy did not make me enthusiastic about letting anyone else hurt me as intimately again, but more bizarrely she thought I wanted some one like her, even while I was breaking up with her.
I have never voted rat. I have voted for a GOP majority that spent 6 years on dozens of Obamacare repeal bills under Obama...and zero since Trump and his GOP majorities were elected in 2016. Along with continued funding for PP...despite a marvelous performance by Trump tonight, pointing his finger at abortion loving rats. it's just words. like The Wall.
I don't have to vote and it sure won't be for Trump, but I doubt I could bring myself to vote rat. I'm not going to argue that a group of women are not white hood wearing dumb bitches, cause it's not my party. It's not my flavor but I gotta wonder why the GOP has trouble attracting women?

You do not support any candidates here. You do not promote any ideas/concepts anywhere right of center here. I'm glad you're satisfied. I am not. This was just a speech and in one week it will mean what other SOTU speeches have meant.
He sent a clear message to the DEMS; it is time to come together for the sake of the country and the American people. America watched. The DEMS need to listen.
I'm still watching it, couldn't see it live. It's mostly passionless. Trump is tired and not good at reading a teleprompter. I'm actually bored, and I don't know why the rats "need to listen," because this speech did nothing to change my perception of Trump. I imagine rats reacted much like the jury when Ted Bundy represented himself and interrogated witnesses at his trial.

Who do you like besides Trump, Steve King, and maybe Cesar Sayoc?

President Trump called them "more women serving in Congress than at any time before," during tonight's SOTU. They only got elected because Trump nationalized the midterms to fluff his ego and lost the House, so in a sense he got them elected. :patriot:
It's too bad Ryan never warned Trump he would destroy the GOP majority in the House, before he quit being Speaker. Oh wait, he did.

Alice Johnson is a genuinely warm story. Trump gets credit for showcasing her and the criminal justice reform law.
It’s a farce. This wasn’t a case of some kid buying a nickel bag. She was laundering money and running tons of cocaine to Tennessee through Texas via the cartels. This is one of the reasons Trump says we need the southern border wall. Besides, the clemency for a ‘first time offender’ is coming from someone who, a year ago, had previously advocated capital punishment for dealers.

76 percent approved of Trump's State of the Union speech
by Katelyn Caralle
| February 06, 2019 08:36 AM
A clear majority of people who watched President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night liked what they saw.
According to a CBS poll, 76 percent of American viewers approved of the speech. However, the same poll said only 56 percent felt that the speech helped to unite the country, and just 33 percent said they think Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will work more closely together after the speech.
When broken down by party, almost all Republicans, 97 percent, said they approved of Trump’s speech, and 82 percent of independents said the same. Only 30 percent of Democrats, however, say they approved.
In the poll, conducted by YouGov, 72 percent of the 1,472 surveyed said that they viewed Trump’s points on immigration favorably, and 71 percent say that there is a crisis at the southern border.
Trump used his speech to say the crisis at the border demands a border wall, and vowed he would end up getting at least some of the wall built. Trump has threatened an emergency declaration to take control of funding needed to build the wall if Congress fails to give it to him.
The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.

Just bring a box of donuts to your co-workers. Most of them will love it, with the exception of some dieters and food snobs. They’ll get a morning sugar high, still be hungry later, and will have received a large dose of empty calories, with little substance. That will encapsulate the speech.

I think I can answer that.
It's not that the GOP 'has trouble attracting women'.....it's just that... unlike the DemocRatic Party.... the GOP doesn't rely on or use "gimmicks". They actually use criteria such as (gasp!)....intelligence, character, experience, and...dare I say it? (I dare! I dare!).....
the most qualified among people of BOTH (of the only two) genders.
I know. Radical concept, eh?
I'm glad the GOP isn't solely and tunnel-visioned 'focused' on race or skin color and ""gender"" as criteria to vet the representatives in their party. You should be glad too. After all... it could always be a lot worse. Watching last nite's performance from the white-clad idiots wrapped in a moron was a clear example of how much worse it 'could' be.

Not necessarily. Keep that in mind, when Murkowski, Collins, or possibly Ernst is voting with the opposition.

Yeah, well.... vetting candidates on their qualifications can't and never will be able to eliminate those folks that are "pretending" to have Conservative values. Unless or until there is a vetting process that includes mind-reading and/or lie detection....
that will continue to be a problem for the GOP.
Point is.... the GOP doesn't hire some minority female idiot just because it's not white and not male.

It definitely was a good speech, and it wasn’t the first, but tbh I’m realistic. You saw how the Dems reacted last night. They’re doubling down. There’s zero chance they’ll listen. 2020 will be worse than 2016.

Anyone who thinks the Democrats (AKA Communists) are going to easily give up what they have worked for 100 years to put in place is delusional! The fight is going to be long, and before it's over, I fear, very bloody.

Absolutely no doubt, that 2020 will be even worse. I'm hoping that the RNC/GOP is gearing up to combat the voter fraud and corruption.

I'm hoping that at least some of the DEMS watching heard what was said. I'm hoping that they saw the lack of applause from their DEM politicians when the president was speaking of human life, hardships at the border and maybe even thought about the men who clearly sacrificed so much for the freedom that they have.
As for the DEM politicians, that's a whole different ballgame, and yes, they are as smug, arrogant and corrupt as ever and you are correct, it unfortunately just may get very bloody before its all over. Something some of us have predicted for quite some time.

I'm sure Trump has known that the Dems would double down. He knows that they are are politically insane. But Trump's public appeal to them was his way of digging the grave into which he expects the Dems to jump. (Trump's appeal to the Dems will also bolster his legal case when the matter of the wall goes into the federal court system.)

Ex-ESPN host Jemele Hill makes State of the Union assassination reference in a now-deleted tweet
By Brian Flood | Fox News
Former ESPN host Jemele Hill deleted a tweet in which, describing what a Democratic lawmaker should say at President Trump's State of the Union address, she jokingly referenced a phrase uttered by an assassin before Malcolm X was gunned down in 1965.
It all started when Showtime’s Desus Nice tweeted that he would like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to interrupt Trump’s speech by yelling, “Whose mans is this?â€
Hill, who famously called Trump a “white supremacist†in 2017 before her exit from ESPN, is now a writer for The Atlantic. She responded to Nice with her own vision fof what the freshman lawmaker should shout.

Going into the second half of his first term the President has an enormous uphill battle. Last night was his best chance at showing the American public exactly how unwilling the DEM party actually is in helping the country.
IF the President and his administration are able to turn the table on the Russian investigation onto the DEMS and continue to show the 'craziness' of the DEM party, he may very well succeed at being re-elected.
I will admit, last night he handed me a glimmer of hope. Hope that I didn't have prior to watching him speak.

Where do we go from here and how do we help to move this country forward? Clearly the threat of socialism is real and the corruption of the left is overwhelming.
President Trump is 72 years old and not a young man by any means. I'm not so sure that he will run for re-election or God forbid, age may simply make that determination for him and there are very few GOP who I believe are qualified to continue to lead conservatives in a positive direction.

1. Stop letting the elites tell us who we are allowed to have as our representatives. That means that in most cases you cannot vote for the guy who can run the most and slickest ads in primary races. there is a reason those people have that kind of money most of the time and it isn't because they are o our side!
2. Call out the lies, regardless of who speaks them, loudly and often!
3. Educate yourself as to what the truth really is on as much as you can and you can bet that what the MSM is selling ain't it!
4. Be an activist! Talk to your family, friends, and neighbors.

It's a step (pardon cliche pun) in the right direction. After eight years of the gay Marxist closet Muslim.... Trump is what was needed to pull their masks off and to force them to expose their true ugly nature and selves. I see that now. Nothing in life worth having is ever 'easy'. Getting involved is great, but have you ever looked at a Republican town hall? Almost everyone has white hair. Go on social media and you find out that kids in high school and college have not only been taught wrong—they’re deluded to a massive degree. You can’t talk sense to them—they erupt into rage. One of them told me it’s proven fact that capitalism kills 20 million people a year. And they despise white people, white history, etc. Including the white kids themselves.
They’re the same with Christianity, and their hate is open. But they get starry-eyed about any and all fake religious legends, myths, cults, whatever. Occultism is huge now. And what about killing babies after they’re born—that’s out in the open now. Anybody hear of Canaan? You can find any number of kids on social media who openly say they hate babies.
Another bizarre thing? Hatred of straight people and fetishization of gays. I like The Walking Dead, but venturing onto a fan site means wading through the certainty that all of the characters are gay, along with drawings of male characters having sex. For some reason I can’t figure, a lot of straight females prefer to see gay relationships over men and women. This is not isolated—it’s epidemic.
Imo, this is more than politics. It’s spiritual. Personally I believe the world has to slide in the current direction for things to come out the way they’re supposed to in the end. I think it’s useless to believe we can get back to some kind of sunny, moral period because Trump was elected. We’re beyond that now. He’s a stopgap politically, but not at all culturally.

John Dewey has indeed done his work well and the result is more than evident!

You're right @QueenCatofAragon. I knew when 0bama was elected the first time that we would survive and come out on the other side of his presidency but that we would be irrevocably changed. "Transformed" if you will.

You’re right—I think that was the turning point. Something happened then.

What we ought to be doing now is demanding our legislators pass personal property protections, because life is going to become increasingly difficult and retirement isn't going to be possible for many and grim for the rest of us who have worked all of our lives. The majority of the electorate is now scared, dependent, non-thinking and envious of others' possessions. And, we know how they are going to vote. We need to start dealing with it.

Actually, the turning point was in 1964 when LBJ was elected instead of Goldwater. Obama just did some cleanup work.

It’s pure rot at this point.

Yes it is! and overcoming that is going to be a monumental effort! IF it can be done at all.

That’s a good point. It dovetails with something weird that happened a couple of weeks ago here. My husband and I dreamed—on the same night—that the government came to take away our house and property.
I’m hoping it was just the tacos.

What I want see is that you can't be sued or sent to collections for medical bills.
The entire medical industry, including insurance, Medicaid\Care is a sham, fraud and malpractice.

I have a friend that had an incident with an 18-wheeler 20 yrs. ago. He was injured so badly that they didn't think he would walk again. After much physical therapy, he was finally able to walk again and even go back to work. Problem is.... he had no health insurance and ran up huge bills he couldn't pay. Oddly enough, they never came after him for those bills like they are coming after you now. My point is... I don't think they used to sue over medical bills back then.
Things change. The government can now go after your house if you own one and if you have used medicaid for nursing home services. The only folks that come out ahead are the ones that don't own anything and have nothing to lose (nothing of value they can take).
Sad state of affairs these days. **nononono*

No, it wasn't the tacos.

I watched a YouTube vid last night about people in the same house having the same dream.

...I find it interesting that I watch a video and then @QueenCatofAragon mentions the same thing. Synchronicity. It is something I've noticed at an ever-increasing rate. I don't believe in coincidences.
I understand how people on this forum share the same sentiments and thoughts. It comes with the territory. But I see an increasing rise in something people are feeling in life outside this forum. And it isn't good.
The veneer of civilization is rapidly growing thinner. I think people are realizing that things are going to come apart sooner rather than later.
Trump can give a great speech. Actually fixing anything is another matter. The increasing rabidity of the left is only going to be stopped with blood shed, IMO. Rivers of it.

I agree with that, Fred. Sadly.

I still say we will have a lot of hangings, etc., some (many?) of which will likely be revealed only after their are already accomplished. That will be a huge step in the right direction. (It will shock our society like never before. And I think that's what is needed.)
-

One of the things about a porous border I think is very seriously being underplayed is the health issue. Seen Zika virus in the news lately? How many people in these caravans from central America have it? How many women are going to have babies severely handicapped by it in this country? Children that will need costly care?
Typhus, measles, or anything else. The anti-vaxxers plus illegal unvaccinated is for the making of a perfect storm. I don't care if people don't want vaccinations. But I think you should be blocked from access to public health care or any other public services--like schools--if you are a walking health risk.

I'm praying that it doesn't get there @bigheadfred but only God can prevent it IMHO.

Correct. But the shock of the revealed wickedness of our society, as I mentioned in my previous post, might be God's prelude to a major revival.

I don't think God has a plan to stop it until the appointed time.

Everything in God's universe proceeds according to His plan, which involves an essentially infinite number of appointed times.

Right. But I don't consider Revelations to be a pipe dream. A pipe bomb maybe.

I agree completely. But we could have a generation or even more of a delay in the final explosion of evil.l

I don't think so. The main reason being technology. The other reason is climate "science". Anyone been paying attention to the sun around here?
