Scientists have found traces of cosmic dust lying on the rooftops of buildings in Paris, Oslo, and Berlin – and it's the first time researchers have confirmed the discovery of these tiny particles in urban environments.
Cosmic dust is the name for small amounts of matter in space, including those left over from the formation of our Solar System some 4.6 billion years ago, and new research shows that these micrometeorites are still falling on Earth billions of years later.
"We've known since the 1940s that cosmic dust falls continuously through our atmosphere," says planetary scientist Matthew Genge from Imperial College London in the UK.
"But until now we've thought that it could not be detected among the millions of terrestrial dust particles, except in the most dust-free environments such as the Antarctic or deep oceans."

The writer certainly seems surprised but science has known about cosmic dust falling since the 40s. This is really about the ability to detect it in the filth of the urban environment.

Yep. Better instrumentation for detecting minute amounts of different substances is great, but it has a downside in that the scientifically ignorant press and enviro-scammers use this same instrumentation to create fake panics about minute amounts of contaminants that are below (WAY below) the safety limits.
Case in point, tritium contamination in ground water, damn near all natural, but this is used by anti-nukes to blackmail nuke plants

I got a flat tires years ago and went to a nearby farm to call the Auto Club. Turned out it was a commune and there just happened to be a copy of Joni Mitchell's Ladies of the Canyon by the phone. I studied it briefly waiting for someone to answer the phone at the Auto Club.
