I'm sick. Sick to death of this all. We've been bitching and moaning about getting a conservative in office FOREVER! We had a chance with Cruz. Luck of the draw, we had too many people in the race and it diluted support. And now we're looking at either Trump or Hillary.
And, damned if those of us who have questions about Trump aren't villified! Treated as though we'd rather have Hillary! Oh, what posh! What putrid, small-minded posh!
You people; you Trump sycophants: Hear this! We don't disagree with some of the things he says. We just don't BELIEVE him! EVERYONE wants a wall! EVERYONE wants Muslims out!
Do you not get that we want that, too?!!
But...OMG! You will not allow that Trump has flaws. You will not allow that we're seriously worried about him. Some of us feel that the stuff he says he'll do will seriously undermine our republic and our freedom and our liberty.
Anyone that offers a criticism of Trump is excoriated by Trump supporters....no matter the validity. Trump supporters have become rabid in their support.
We're on the same side, I think. We want to go back to where common sense and common values rule the day.
Trump "sounds" like the man for that. My problem is that: 1: I don't believe he can do it and, 2: I don't even think he means it.
Fight, bitch, argue all you like, but all he has so far is words. We've had candidates with RECORDS and you didn't want them.
What would it take, when would you admit...that Trump is not the Trump you adhere to; the Trump that you promote?
If he takes office, will you ever admit that he is not what you wished for/desired?
Or will it be forever that no matter what he does, you will support him?
I guess the theme of this post is that I don't understand the Trump followers that refuse to admit his weaknesses, his flaws.
I supported George W., Rick Perry and Ted Cruz. I get that they all have flaws. But, dammit! I'll support them with all that I have against what we have now.
And God Bless America, I think each of them would be terrific right now.
And I wonder about you folks. I wonder why you won't let people like me have questions about Trump without it meaning that I want Hillary or hate America...
And if you think that, you sonovabitch...If you ever get me face to face, I'd want to knock you on your closed-minded ass.
Peace.

Right on the money.

Odd, I don't see you've been banned, suspended, muted, or censored in any way for having your opinions. On top of that, I venture to say that most here agree with you. Just because someone or a couple of members said something like 'if you don't support Trump you are helping Hillary' doesn't mean their opinion holds any more weight than your opinion. If you disagree, you are free to ignore, counterpoint them, or give them the finger through your computer screen.

You are right, generally.
This site is terrific in its openness.
However, there are folks on here that do NOT accept criticism of the Trump. And a lot of my post is directed at them, as well as Trump supporters in general.
This isn't hard. If the shoe fits, damned well wear it.

Actually, Xena...I'm pretty pissed right now. I'm tired of the small-mindedness. I'm tired of the intellectual dishonesty. I'm tired of being the "bad guy" who wants things to be as they were.
I know, I sound like a throw-back. But, for crying out loud, I don't think that's bad for most of America.

You know, that was a terrific, well thought out, intellectually sound answer.
Or it wasn't.
Your cartoons are cute, though.

Okay, thanks MAK...
Shouldn't have posted there in the first place.
-
I'm getting a bit more scared of Trump than Hillary. Trump supporters keep telling me she's weak and he's high-energy. Frankly, I'd worry less about trump and his authoritarian tendencies if he was low-energy!
-
I find your use of metaphor to be titillating. Your narrative style is only surpassed by the excellent use of classic dramatic techniques. It is clearly written in a form of English with a flare that fits the author and the characters it addresses, a la Samuel Clemens.
It has a defined plot in an appropriate setting with characters that suit the theme of the writing. And you use an exasperated tone which sets the mood and defines the narrative structure of the piece.
Overall, I would rate it as a piece of English writing which was written and that I have read.

I feel ya. I could tell you a story or two about how and why I am pissed, as well. And it has nothing to do with what Trump has said or done. It has more to do with what his supporters are saying and doing (at another forum, not here).

There are so few Trump supporters on this forum you could squeeze them into a janitors' closet at Trump Tower.
I once got so angry at the Trumpkins I got two time outs over it. When I realized there are only about a dozen of them, I now feel the same way I feel about them as I do the poor kids who have to ride the short bus to school.
Trump has basically turned his back on blacks,Hispanics and women and is hoping angry dumb white guys will carry him to victory. Think that will happen?
Don't get mad. Just ignore.
And be around to pick up the pieces when Trump gets his ass whipped in the manner he deserves.

The newbie said came here looking for a fight.....

...The guy comes here looking for a fight, and when someone answers back WE get tagged as insulting him?

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear. I didn't say you mentioned #NeverTrump; that is obvious from what you were saying.
But, my comment was directed at this place, which has a policy of attracting neverTrumpers. Since those of us who support the Republican nominee are outnumbered 10 to 1, we get a little testy, understand?
So, coming here and trying to pick a fight what did you expect to happen?

Imagine that. People unwilling to trust a candidate who spent years donating to harry reid, nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, deBlasio and assorted other enemies of the free world. A candidate who praises Planned Parenthood for their GREAT work.
-
So, coming here and trying to pick a fight what did you expect to happen?
So...hope you'll understand this, but I didn't come to PICK a fight, I came TO fight.
You [and others] make my point. I don't have to slam Trump. I don't have to make accusations. I don't have to make anything up. All I have to say is I wonder about him; that I have questions that I'd like answered.
And that I feel that ANYONE WHO DOES THAT GETS ATTACKED AND HAS TO FIGHT!!
Guess what? You [and others] proved my point.
I'm a newbie? And....that proves/means what? What about the content of my post? What about what I actually said? Not who I am, or how long I've been here, or what color my hair is, or how tall I am, or where I'm from, or what color I am...what about the content?
Oh.
You proved me right by your response(s).
Wanna fight about what I wrote or do you wanna build some more straw men you can joust with?
-
Odd, I don't see you've been banned, suspended, muted, or censored in any way for having your opinions.
No one is suppressing you.
Read my post again. Maybe read it out loud. Slowly.
I didn't say anything about being banned, suspended, muted, censored or suppressed. I said I can't express reservations about Trump or ask questions about him without being misrepresented and/or attacked and/or confronted by his supporters.
The question isn't answered, mind you. No, my position is attacked or misrepresented.
Like you did, strangely enough.
-
...but, you wouldn't notice given your present state of mind regarding Donald Trump. Just saying. My humble opinion.
What would that be, AC? Please don't presume to read my mind, humbly or otherwise.

I like to point out what is going on. The other day a 'Trumpster' complained to the Mod that it was wrong and an act of hostility for a 'Never-Trumpster' to place them on their personal ignore list and yet there are a number of Trump threads on this forum that 'anti-Trumpster' are not allowed to post on. The iron fist of Trump might have a velvet glove on it here, but it is still cold hard iron underneath and is so very frequently used to beat those who don't agree.

I'm sick of all those stupid Trump supporters supporting Trump.
But that's Ok because I have the perfect revenge in mind for them. I am going to vote for Trump only to put his stupid supporters in the position that they have to deal with stupidity every day. That is the only way to get through to his fanatical supporters. I'm going to give them a big dose of exactly what they think they want, just to watch them have to stew in it!
Since Trump and Hillary are the same thing anyway, then why not vote Trump just for the fun of it. Let'um have to deal with that for the next four years. Screw Trump. Let's force him to do all that crazy stuff. That would be the best revenge of all.

Does anyone on this board question what Hillary will do when she becomes president?

Watered down because of the field?
No matter how much it is denied, Trump and Cruz were largely fighting for the same votes as on the other side, Rubio and Kasich were fighting for similar.

By the way, this is called morphing images. However, the intended mockery of Trump's marginal features with Hillary's face photoshopped on top is poor amateur parody. Nice try though.

Allow me to venture an answer: No. Their butts hurt too much after Trump's stunning victory in the primaries.
But, whose butts, you ask? Answer: No one in particular....

So...hope you'll understand this, but I didn't come to PICK a fight, I came TO fight
What are you fighting for @Chasaway?

Does anyone on this board question what Hillary will do when she becomes president?
Everyone knows what Hillary will do to this country. I think a more appropriate question @mirvin is: Does anyone on this board care what Hillary will do when she becomes president?

Nice try, but that's wearing very, very thin.

I guess my point is about us fighting back and forth. Intellectually, it’s healthy to fight it out….to a point. We are drawing near to actually voting. I’ve already been kicked off of the “other” website board (whom we should never mention) because I dared to question Trump. I still don’t trust Trump.
But even if there’s a ten percent chance of him following through with what he claims he will do, then that’s better than the alternative. And we know what will happen then.
Before I wanted Cruz, I wanted Walker….well they’re both gone, and here we are with Trump. Oh, I’ve heard the “there’s other people to vote for”…..yeah, let’s go with that. How well has that worked out….ever?
So, how about this idea? We (conservatives) start working on knocking down the other side first, then we can go out back and beat the tar out of each other.

Though I voted for Cruz, it is the Mark Levin crowd that seems to want to put him on a pedestal.
Accusing John Kasich of receiving Soros funds, Ted Cruz campaign and they apologized for it, saying Marco Rubio said the Bible had no answers; Cruz campaign again. Some rather awful stuff though, they seem to believe they are without sin either. The list goes on.
Walker and other governors have noteworthy accomplishments that actually show responsibility, it be Senator Rand Paul or others, they are good men but still may be a bit short on concrete results.

Nice try, but that's wearing very, very thin.
Tough titty. It is still the case.
I'm voting for Castle. At least that party can spell Constitution, and knows how many articles there are in it.
-
I'd just like to say, for the record: Trump is asking 'we the people' for a job as president. He is asking to work for us, not the other way around and we are not beholden to support him in the job simply because he asks. He should stand or fall on his own merits.

Well, it hasn't if you don't count the demise of the Whigs, the Bullmoose Party and other anomalies. But it darned sure won't if people won't vote their conscience because they have to vote for the loser who will 'win'. What have we gained by that except an inexorable slide toward totalitarianism--from both sides of the aisle.
We aren't going to stop that slide away from a Constitutional Republic by hitting the R button and praying that maybe this time, maybe just this once (or second time if you got to vote for Reagan), it'll mean we don't continue hurtling down the Socialist road.
Your vote is your own, and you certainly may cast it as you please, but I can't vote my conscience and vote for a lesser evil if I know there is someone out there who is better, with a better platform who espouses the Constitution. Why would I vote for something I don't want over something I do?
That would be silly. The bottom line is that by failing to vote for better, we will continue to get worse. That doesn't mean we're going to jump right in with a "third" party (out of some 70+ parties out there) and grab 270 electoral votes right away. Pretty unlikely unless there is some serious incident at the last minute. But it does mean that that party (Constitution Party) will gain a little on the big boys and grow. I'm looking down the road, not today, probably not tomorrow, but if you want the Republic back, voting for a little shinier version of the status quo isn't going to get it.
-
Trump is the candidate that the RINO's always wanted. Bipartisan, moderate-to-liberal, friend of Democrats, New York politician, never voted to the Right on extreme social issues like abortion.

Tom, you keep repeating the same disproven slanders. Come up with something new...or accurate.

You voted for Cruz? Yeah, right.

<But it does mean that that party (Constitution Party) will gain a little on the big boys and grow>
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_third_party_performances_in_United_States_presidential_elections
Year Electoral votes
1832 11/286
7/286
1848 0/290
1852 0/290
1856 8/296
1860 72/303

1968 46/538
1980 0/538
1992 0/538
1996 0/538
As for Libertarians: If you add up all of the electoral votes from 1972, 76, 80, 84, 88, 92, 96, 00, 04, 08, and 12, you have a total of 1.
Although I’m being a little flippant here, you have to see the problem.

OP, you managed to bring out the mean girls en masse. This thread is just one big "You are ignoring this user." for me. It figures since I agree with everything you said.
Good post.
We must have the same Ignore Line-up.

OP, you managed to bring out the mean girls en masse. This thread is just one big "You are ignoring this user." for me. It figures since I agree with everything you said.
Good post.
Wait - you have me on ignore?
-
What are you fighting for @Chasaway?
@Right_in_Virginia , I'm not so much fighting FOR something as I'm here expecting ("looking for") a fight; not FOR something but with "WHO". And frankly, it's "Who"s that I shouldn't have to fight with. Somehow, that's the way it's been turning out.
I think the OP stands on its own, but for a little clarification:
We may agree on some of Trump's statements or on a stated position of his, either completely or in theory. But (speaking for myself and I expect, a few others), we don't know what to think of the man. We don't know if his word is good. We don't see how he can pull it off without us sacrificing even more liberty. We don't see how he can pull it off without working through Congress or going extra-Constitution. And we want to discuss those things.
We want to ask questions and we want to be able to offer criticisms with/to other conservatives and have a profitable, constructive dialog about them. And it's not like I'm suggesting some wild and crazy, fringe-y, tin-foil-hat-wearing topics. Just a civil discussion, even if it contains tough questions and answers and/or criticisms and responses.
However, my personal experience is that when I do that, I'm attacked, excoriated, accused of all kinds of plots/intents/thoughts that I don't hold, called a "newbie"...and have even been described as a supporter of Hillary. None of that has any bearing on the topic, but it must serve SOME purpose to those who employ it.
And they're "conservatives", no less. Some on this site and TOS and throughout internet-dom who claim the conservative label and are Trump supporters.
And I don't get my desired discussion. On this thread alone, I think you'll see exactly what I'm describing. I don't know every person's allegiances, but I haven't seen a known Trump supporter telling me that they agreed with me and that we really SHOULD be able to do that without the rancor and acrimony.
And I wonder why it seems to be always thus.
So, I hate to say it, but I wrote the OP "...looking for (expecting) a fight..." and whoops! Up jumped the devil!
What do you know about that?
-
We know sanctimony and arrogant, and oh yes, ignorance and it AINT TED CRUZ.
-
@Chasaway
And another one.....'crying' because Teddy got his azz kicked?\
"Crying" because the less than half-dozen Trump supporters here are so, what? MEAN??
"Crying" because the joint isn't more than an echo-chamber in the vein of TOS?
8888crybaby
"You'd better put some ice on that....."
"Crying"?
What are you talking about, precisely? I didn't do any crying. I ascribed misdirection and distraction from the real topics to folks like you, as opposed to chatting about the topic/question presented.
Oh! And look at you!
A poster-child is discovered.
-
I figured you were trying to setup your ignore list and made the post to quickly and easily get the names to add. I thought you to be quite brilliant. 888bravo
Oh. I didn't think of that.
Could you think of me as brilliant, anyway?
-
At least 60-75% of the Never Trumpers are rather nasty towards Trump, putting it in their avatars and signatures,
I don't see that from the pro-Trump folks nor reeling off personal attacks, or outright lying and accusing others of being pro-Trump.
And many are respectful.
A lot of us are just for the nominee as in 2012, we were for the nominee Romney.
With all of these people one can find problems with, Reagan signed a bill when as Governor of California legislating abortions, who knows if supporting the Mujahadeen against the USSR led to the rise of Jihadism. Yes, I know, some say no; but it is a matter for research.
-
At least 60-75% of the Never Trumpers are rather nasty towards Trump, putting it in their avatars and signatures
Might that be because many pro-Trump people are so damned awful to anyone who has questions/criticisms? Might it be that this is one way they can get their thoughts out?
Or no?
I'm sorry, but if you deny the way folks who aren't all in for Trump are treated on TOS and even here at times, your filter's broken.
A lot of us are just for the nominee as in 2012, we were for the nominee Romney.
And some of us aren't. Is it just as okay for those who aren't as it is for those who are? I mean if you're "just for the nominee" and others are working for something they think might be better?
Maybe?
-
At least 60-75% of the Never Trumpers are rather nasty towards Trump, putting it in their avatars and signatures
And BTW...can you show your work on your math, here?
It's just a bald statement borne from your anecdotal experience, unless you can show it to be true.

What do you know about that?
Mr./Ms. Chasaway,
My first question to you (as a surrogate to many others) is: "Why?"
Why do you want to 'fight' with people on the public Internet about your choices for the 11/8 Presidential Election?
You seem to be a reasonably sharp guy/gal, do you really care one iota what people on the public Internet think about your choice?
It would be my guess that at this point in time, you probably have a good idea as to how you will vote. (And the reasoning in hand, behind your choice.)
Correct me if I am wrong, but you appear to be troubled by the discourse on this forum regarding the Republican nominee. My humble suggestion is that you get on the right side of the problem, rather than lament your current position.
There is a sub-forum that is named: " On The Campaign Trail! (PRO TRUMP ONLY)." It is my opinion that the parenthetical qualifier is misnamed. It should be something like: "(Supporting the GOP Nominees)" or left off completely. In the past, after the primaries and convention ended, the GOP Briefing Room set aside the disappointments and rallied around the GOP Nominees (as difficult as it was for some to stomach at the time).
There is a destructive notion that is often paraded throughout this forum, and that is: "only Trump supporters can post in that area." And it has a correlate, Trump supporters should not post elsewhere. See this post as an example:
http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,222982.msg1037707.html#msg1037707
Why are some of you people on the free speech Trump Arizona speech thread accosting posters on that thread? We don't need your aggravation. Stay here where you wanted to be by yourselves. Geesh! You are irritating and have little to say except post nasty little posts, especially RIV. Now, RIV, moderator in chief of this only Trump section, wipe my post off as the little person you are.

@mystery-ak will surely correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that:
1. EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to post in the "Trump area" (http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/board,120.0.html). Especially in the Rally threads where the GOP team of Trump and Pence are barnstorming the country, speaking out for the positions and policies that 95+% of the members of this forum have been clamoring for, for many years. I will speak out of turn for the Moderator of this forum, but I believe my statements are in line with her desires:
A. Constructive Criticism of our Nominees is welcome. Points made, with respect to how they may better frame the message, or even when they may fail on a point, are more than welcome. Mssrs. Trump and Pence are human beings, they DON'T get everything right (at least in terms of how we see it).
B. Honest Questions about their policy positions and/or public statements are more than welcome. Presidential politics is a VERY convoluted game. Factor in a one-sided media and chaos results, much akin to what we are seeing now. Are you confused about what Mr. Trump or Mr. Pence may have said? Ask away.... ask for context... ask for backup information.... ask for the actual statement underlying the media spin...
Again, speaking out of school for our intrepid moderator, Right_in_Virgina, what is not welcome in that sub-forum (yes, the one that traditionally was used to follow our chosen Nominees on the general election campaign trail) is:
- gratuitous insults aimed at our Nominees and/or their supporters,
- ludicrous accusations of misintent and outright LIES,
- inane graphics or commentary that reduce the quality of the forum to a sink hole.
Come into the threads.... state your genuine concerns and questions.... state your honest objections.... be respectful (not only to our Nominees and their supporters, but more importantly, to this forum and yourself.).
2. Every member of this forum is welcome and encouraged to post in each and every sub-forum, as long as they abide by the rules of the forum (explicitly stated and otherwise understood).
There is no reason to look for a 'fight' of any sort at this point in time. The primary contests are over, the GOP Convention has come and gone. Yes, there are numerous 3rd parties candidates available in many states that one can choose over the two main candidates. If that is your desire, full steam ahead to you, vote your conscience and may you rest easily with your choice. But if you may be one that accepts the situational facts of the matter, that being that either Mr. Trump or Ms. Clinton will become the 45th POTUS on January 20, 2017, then join aboard.... let us all know your deeply held misgivings.... rant until your heart's content about the weakness of the chosen GOP standard bearers, but if GOD be your judge, do not permit within your personal abilities, the demon of HRC to ascend to the prominence of POTUS. Be HONEST in your questions and concerns, fall not victim to the media's faux angst and anguish with respect to the "purity" of the GOP team.
A side remark to another: @skeeter -- you are obviously SMART enough to not allow the statements of anonymous others on the public Internet to sway your choices, vote YOUR conscience and disregard the chaff that billows about.
-
Of course not, silly. There were some other good posts scattered here and three amongst the sea. :P
Just making sure!

Mmmm hmmm. Whatever you say.
Clever.

Umm, no. A, B, and 2 are false. You can ask @Right_in_Virginia about that section, but anything that is not glowing praise of Trump. Even the occasional non Trump focused post of discussion with other members is either redacted re-educated or nuked.

It's Mr. Chasaway. And thanks for your sensitivity. And it will be "MISTER" to anyone who wants to reply to me from now on.
JOKING! But I am a guy.
Now, in response to your post:
1. You ask "Why?". My answer to that is, I am required to if I want to ask questions about Trump. Because, I WILL be confronted. And it WON'T be about the substance. And I am no longer going to be distracted by the specious, fatuous things said that are not on point. This is a discussion about the potential commander-in-chief, President of my country. And if I want to ask questions or express criticisms/concerns about said candidate, I'm gonna fight anyone who wishes to attack me/my character/my whatever instead of answering. That tactic is nothing but squid ink. And if they want to play in the field of ideas, they should lose if they possess none.
2. You misunderstand my position. I don't think anyone on here knows who I support/don't support for President (other than a lack of support for Hillary). My fight is for the discussion. I despise those who attempt to bully and bluster their way through a debate/discussion. And I intend to call them on it. You spent a hella lot of words counseling me. You might should spend the same effort trying to understand what I'm saying. I don't care what anyone thinks of my choice(s). I care immensely about the debate.
3. You say,"There is no reason to look for a 'fight' of any sort at this point in time." And I say there is no more important time to be willing to fight.
Once more...I a'int trying to start it, but by gum I intend to finish it.
I will no longer allow attacks directed at me instead of my position. And I will call them out and expect them to be defended.
But, thanks for your counsel.
Whatever you meant.

We must have the same Ignore Line-up.
I hope I'm on that ignore list. I really hate being left out of stuff.

Here is your quote that I responded to with the question what are you fighting for:
How about you figure out what/who you're fighting with/for and then let me know . You seem to be rather confused.
@Right_in_Virginia, I know you're smart. Everyone here knows you're smart. And we all know you're part owner of this site. And you have our respect.
And we also all know when you wish, you have teeth and claws. Good for you.
But if you're as smart as we think you are, then you can read what I wrote and work it all out.
Everyone else on here knows what I'm saying. And if you try, you will too.

Replying to a new friend Mr. @Idaho_Cowboy and an old friend, @Bigun, I reject that premise on its face (prima facia) for the elite amongst us). I implore you both, take Mr. Trump to task where he is in error. Spell out the mistakes that he has made (your list most likely coincides with mine!). Take it INTO the threads of that area, my Friend, Right_in_Virginina, is fair minded to a fault. I can guarantee that your reasonable questions and concerns will be provided all due respect!!!
-
Might that be because many pro-Trump people are so damned awful to anyone who has questions/criticisms? Might it be that this is one way they can get their thoughts out?
Or no?
I'm sorry, but if you deny the way folks who aren't all in for Trump are treated on TOS and even here at times, your filter's broken.
And some of us aren't. Is it just as okay for those who aren't as it is for those who are? I mean if you're "just for the nominee" and others are working for something they think might be better?
Maybe?
"Welcome to the Party, pal!"
The point is that we've been arguing/defending/promoting with the founding #nevertrumps in here since July, 2015. How long is this crap to continue?
No! Just because an unfamiliar avatar shows up professing ignorance?
NO!
We're not going back. We're marching forward.
Primaries are over. Get on board or not. I DON'T CARE!

It's Mr.

I can only say to you, "ask away!" YOUR questions and concerns are valid to the point that they need not be questioned! Only bear this in mind, our Moderator, @Right_in_Virginia, is beyond reproach in her dignity and scholarship; please respect her intellect.

I'm sorry to have to inform my GOOD friend that the portion of your post I quoted has been repeatedly proven to be patently untrue!
PLEASE!
YOU, of all people know that to be patently untrue.
Please come in to those threads.... share with ALL of us your sound wisdom and experience. YOU are not a troll, YOU do not take cheap shots. Give us your sound wisdom, give it to us in the manner that people of GOP BR have always done in the past.
-
Only bear this in mind, our Moderator, @Right_in_Virginia, is beyond reproach in her dignity and scholarship; please respect her intellect.
What? What does that mean? Have you read all of my posts?
And do you mean to say that her opinions are above questioning/debating?
C
-
Umm, no. A, B, and 2 are false. You can ask @Right_in_Virginia about that section, but anything that is not glowing praise of Trump. Even the occasional non Trump focused post of discussion with other members is either redacted re-educated or nuked.
One more time .... everyone is welcome to read, lurk, post on the Election Forum. All that is asked is that the posters remember this is a section where folks stop by to find out about the Republican ticket's campaign without having to put on hip boots and wade through Animal House.
In a rational world, the sequence would be reversed and there would be an "Anti-Trump Only" section for those actively praying for a Republican defeat to rant against and ridicule the Republican nominee to their hearts' content.
But for now, the Election Section is the part of this forum that openly supports the Trump/Pence ticket and its victory in November. So, comment on the topic and be respectful--even in disagreement-- of the Republican nominee and fellow forum members supporting his victory. Leave Animal House behind when you join us in the Election Forum and you will be more than welcome.
Doable?

Please, friend. A new day has dawned (if the past days were murky). Come and set forth YOUR wisdom; YOU are a senior member here, YOU contribute wisdom and scholarship (always). Give her a chance if you have felt less than honored in the past. As much as it may count for now (in this topsy turvy world), I vouch for your wisdom and scholarship. Here, let me say it, TRUMP is not perfect, TRUMP is foolhardy in many of his pronouncements... TRUMP means well but makes mistakes, many of them.... but tell me in your heart of hearts, Earl, do you want the EVIL of HRC at the helm, or an imperfect American, warts and all?

I AGREE with you TOTALLY! "Safe Spaces" are absurd. I am not a "regular" here, but I will make the request: "Please, @mystery-ak, do away with the nonsense of "Trump Safe Spaces." Open the forum to honest discussion on all fronts. A "safe space" for the GOP Nominee team of Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence is not needed in a forum of mature and honest members.

I'm 70. I've no more patience.
When presented with a choice involving Hillary Clinton and ANYBODY else for POTUS, the realistic choice should be crystal clear.
Me? I was lucky enough and have sufficient life and people experience to have picked the winner over a year ago.
Them? Not so much. And that, sir, is the crux. They're sore losers. They put their own sanctimony and selfish so-called "principles" above their children and/or grandchildren.
Anybody who can't see that...no matter where we are in the process... is too ignorant to vote and furthermore, too willfully blind to engage in any serious manner.
And BTW....I never posted any gif of Ted Cruz. Perhaps it was another Trump supporter.
....it's not like there's so many, that you can't keep them straight, right?
-
Well, I'm not going to argue with the "smart" part, ^-^ ...
Me, either!!
And I am still confused about the point of your thread.
@Right_in_Virginia, come on...you know what I mean. If I go anywhere that's not an echo chamber and have questions or criticisms of Trump, I'm attacked. So, I've got to either go away or fight back.
I've decided to fight. And I don't mean by being ugly or personal. I mean that I'll require an answer to my question/criticism. And I'll require proof of any accusations/allegations against me.
Surely, as a Trump supporter, you understand the need to fight back. And surely, as smart and aware as you are, you see people with questions about Trump being attacked rather than answered.
It's simple, really. That's all it is. I came on here saying that I'm expecting a fight. I'm expecting it from rabid [maybe not you...don't know] Trump supporters. There might be SOME debate about substance, but largely it's attacks or attempts to discredit the one who posits the question.
Do me a favor. Read over this thread. Tell me how often a Trump supporter agreed with my (I think) reasonable request for conversation about my [our] questions/criticisms about Trump and how often the response have nothing to do with it. And how often there are questions about my validity, who I support, how long I've been posting, etc.?
You're smart. We all agree. And you're fair. Some agree. [joke]
But can you read this thread and see exemplars of what I'm talking about? And no fair bringing up Cruz/Jeb/Perry/etc. supporters. Just about the Trump-specific stuff.
Let me know what you come up with and we'll see if we differ.
-
I hate it too...it was never my idea and have tried to get rid of it...sorry R4 insists it stays...you have the rest of the forum.
Get rid of it! It is un-necessary... let there be honest disagreement, let there be hurt feelings.... let adults share an open and honest forum... YOU worked too hard and too long to let it degrade into anything but that.... Mr. Trump is the GOP Nominee... Mr. Pence is his VP partner... love them or hate them, (or see them as the imperfect vessels that 2016 has foist upon us all), let the debate be open, let the debate be HONEST, let the best men win....
-

RIV is NOT a part owner. She is only a moderator on political threads and I'm not sure that includes ALL threads or just the sanctified Trump threads where non Trumpers are not allowed to post. 'There's an elephant in the room, Myst. You're left with so few pro-Trump posters .... most of them leaving because it really has become Animal House in the Politics Forum. There's no discussion, there are bullies and insults and when that fails, graphics that are intentionally demeaning to Trump and his supporters flood a thread. Just look at the thread you posted on Melania Trump.
Here's the elephant, Myst: Is this or is this not a site that supports the Republican nominee for President?
If yes, give the NeverTrumps a sub forum (like the TCG) to rant and express their alternate opinions. If no, then knowing the nevertrump players, the expectation of respectful dialogue in a unified forum is unsustainable.

YOU, Marcella, need to be dealt with.
1. There are NO "Trump threads" (see my post above). EVERYONE is permitted and encouraged to post on ALL thread (within the stated and implied rules of this forum).
2. It is a public forum, there are NO private areas. Every member is permitted to post in every thread within the forum. Making a long time member of this forum, @Right_in_Virginia, a topic of discussion is not only outside of the rules, but is a distinctly poor showing of decorum.
RiV donates her time to this forum to provide a great deal of information and facts about the GOP Nominees, Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence, your backhanded swipes at her are not only out of line, but display a sad malevolence toward the only men that can prevent an HRC presidency. Are you with us, or against us?

Victoria33 posted straight out that she's voting for Hillary Clinton.
IMO, that renders whatever the hell she has to say on the subject, irrelevant.

That is not true. She is going out of her way to do what a owner wants her to do. Don't give RiV grief because of that. She is just doing what she was asked to do.

I vehemently disagree! (It is good that we are having this conversation, no?).... She had been carrying a task as assigned by the ownership.
We can debate the wisdom of the task, but let us never disparage the person that does her duty! Agreed?

Yes, friend, there is a DEEP seated problem, many decades in the making.... we both can espouse for days upon it (and be in strong agreement throughout).... in 2016 we are left with two choices, imperfect is one, hellishly unacceptable the other.... I will cast my sole vote with clear conscience, as I am certain that you will also.... let up on the workers, their hearts are pure,.... you are a bigger man than that... I know that to be true...
-
Victoria33 posted straight out that she's voting for Hillary Clinton.
IMO, that renders whatever the hell she has to say on the subject, irrelevant.
Donald Trump is a steaming pile of garbage as a human being and an abject failure as a businessman. Write me three solid paragraphs on how you understand that and that you see why others have problems with him but that you think Hitlary is the worse of the two choices.
Do that and I will vote for your man Donny here in PA......otherwise you are the irrelevant one.

@mystery-ak
This is a Political forum period.
Since R and I do not agree on the nominee this is the first year TBR will not endorse...but that does not mean R or even I will not support Trump at least I reluctantly.
I am not doing anymore sub-forums or splitting the forum in two anymore..it has caused too much divisiveness here.

After 7 pages this thread is spiraling downward.
-
YOU, Marcella, need to be dealt with.
@katzenjammer
I was on the board when mysterty-ak renamed the Trump section, "On The Campaign Trail! (PRO TRUMP ONLY)" and she asked non Trumpers to not post there. Your confusion about free speech Trump threads and "PRO TRUMP ONLY" threads should be taken up with her and the other owner who wants that section to be "PRO TRUMP ONLY."

@mystery-ak
...give the NeverTrumps a sub forum (like the TCG) to rant and express their alternate opinions. If no, then knowing the nevertrump players, the expectation of respectful dialogue in a unified forum is unsustainable.
Now, look...this is what I mean. Because you disagree with someone's position, a "respectful dialogue in a unified forum is unsustainable."
I mean, what the hell does that mean?!! Unless we agree with you, we can't have a respectful dialogue?!
Good grief! What else do you need to read/write to get what I'm saying?!
-
@DCPatriot
You bet if my vote for Clinton would keep an insane Trump out of office, it would be worth it. Never trust an insane person to be sane because he/she IS insane.

That is correct but I did not name it Pro Trump Only..... :nometalk:

And @Right_in_Virginia, you're a damn moderator!
What does that say? What does that tell everyone?

You missed the point. There should be no "(PRO TRUMP ONLY)" sub-forums. Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence are the GOP nominees; support them, or support HRC, your choice.
-
And @Right_in_Virginia, you're a damn moderator!
What does that say? What does that tell everyone?
What does that tell everyone? It tells everyone that Nancy chose an intelligent and fair-minded person to moderate a very contentious sub-forum.
-
Me, either!!
@Right_in_Virginia, come on...you know what I mean. If I go anywhere that's not an echo chamber and have questions or criticisms of Trump, I'm attacked. So, I've got to either go away or fight back.
So you want to criticize Trump? Yes? Okay .... But personally I find that approach rather counterproductive to a Republican victory in November. Speaking for myself, I find it tiresome to keep debating the outcome of the primaries, rehashing the magnificence of former candidates, and debate points trying to convince me that Hillary would be better in the Oval Office than Donald Trump.
But hey, that's me. And when any of these points are posted I either fight or ignore. That's the essence of any political forum: fight or ignore.
Surely, as a Trump supporter, you understand the need to fight back. And surely, as smart and aware as you are, you see people with questions about Trump being attacked rather than answered.
Of course I do. But in fighting back, I'm fighting for. I'm not stuck in a primary season that has ended. I'm moving toward Donald Trump's victory---first because I have long thought Mr. Trump is the right man at the right hour to lead our nation. Second to that is ... our nation will be unrecognizable after four/eight years of Hillary Clinton. And her court appointments will make sure her transformation of America is sustained for two generations.
At this point in the election, fighting back against Trump really only helps the opposition.
It's simple, really. That's all it is. I came on here saying that I'm expecting a fight. I'm expecting it from rabid [maybe not you...don't know] Trump supporters. There might be SOME debate about substance, but largely it's attacks or attempts to discredit the one who posits the question.
I will not "attack" you. I will, however, question your logic and perceived outcome of continuing to degrade the Republican nominee. That's called "discussion".
I will also be happy to answer questions you have about Trump's policies that are asked in the spirit of seeking an answer--not dissing the candidate.
Let me know what you come up with and we'll see if we differ.
I do not know what else you are looking for from me @Chasaway
-
@katzenjammer
As I have said, I will vote for Clinton if that would keep insane Trump out of office. Even if I did, I live in Texas and Trump will get our electoral votes.

Ohhhh.... you jumped the shark with this question @Oceander :smokin:
-
More to the point, "Mr. I Came Here Looking for a Fight" does it mean to you @Chasaway/
Good try at deflecting again. Come on! Everyone says you're smarter than that.
You said in a previous post, "So you want to criticize Trump? Yes? Okay .... But personally I find that approach rather counterproductive to a Republican victory in November." and then, " I'm moving toward Donald Trump's victory."
Soooo....reckon selling other folks on your beliefs and answering criticisms about him would be a productive way for Trump supporters to spend their time/energy? Or do you ascribe to the slash and burn tactics of many of them, a tactic sure to run huge numbers of them away?
Because the topic of this thread is not that I/we hate Trump or necessarily disagree with him, but that we'd like to have a reasoned discussion about our doubts/questions about him.
Why do you try to demean what I'm saying or distract from what I said? This wasn't a thread about Trump's positions or the fact that you want to vote for him...
Copernicus called....he says the universe doesn't revolve around you or your desires.
It was about what I said it was about: The AMAZING dearth of answers by Trump supporters to the questions raised by those of us on the fence. Instead, we receive veiled (or even overt) accusations of "just not getting it", that we don't understand the risk of a HRC presidency, that we're just too slow to keep up with the greater things at play.
Can you guys just once, admit your guy has MAJOR flaws? That he has major issues? That there are people who need to be won over, not run over?
Just once?!
Good grief, @Right_in_Virginia!!! You're credited by many with a great mind.
Can you not see where we're coming from?!! Can you not see what we need to hear from you folks?!! Can you not for once put down all of the shields and just talk to us?!!
NONE of us want a socialist/communist/HRC country! But for Pete's sake, lady...we're not mental incompetents, either.
We actually WANT to be sold on the guy! We're just not, as of yet.
We have the questions we have for a reason!
Don't make me keep doing this with you. Not you, for crying out loud.

Ohhhh.... you jumped the shark with this question @Oceander :smokin:
Lady, you just demonstrated an enormous amount of arrogance and conceit with that statement!
Are you telling me that I jumped the shark by asking a question about how your statements would speak volumes about you?
Who are you? And where did your ego come from?
Unless you have been granted a god-ship, some form of unapproachable status, your statements are as open to evaluation as anyone else's.
Deal with the content of my posts, rather than implying some sort of threat based on your "status".
Please.
-
Your gig is up, O.
Why do you keep referring to me as "O"?
-
My experience has been the exact opposite. Nothing BUT games are played on threads she moderates; therefore, I refuse to enter any thread where she is moderator.
You know, this thread illustrates something interesting. As I write this, there are just over 1400 views. If the Trump supporters wanted to disprove what I posited, this would be a terrific opportunity to do so.
However, they have instead done everything they can to prove my point. Even to the point of a moderator attempting to spin/mischaracterize my initial thesis.
There have been personal attacks, denigration of people/ideas, diversion, distraction, mischaracterization, etc.
But very little attempt by the Trump supporters to try to answer the statement: Why is it so difficult to ask questions/make criticism of Trump without being attacked?
Rather, they walked right into it and proved the point.
Sad, right?
-

Ohhhh.... you jumped the shark with this question @Oceander :smokin:
@Right_in_Virginia I didn't jump diddly squat. And I agree with you that you're no moderator. They've a better term that comes from TOS, it starts with 'h', it ends with 'y', and it has an 'r', an 'a', and a 'p' in the middle, in no particular order.
-
Clever.
Ah, and there it is.
I specifically posted a "whatever you say" comment in order to garner the dismissal from you. Why? Because your initial comment was just as inane. You offered no substantial proof that Trump isn't a crazy narcissist just "you won't have to worry about that with Trump." It's the logical equivalent of me saying "whatever" because neither comment holds the weight of any facts or logic.
Accordingly, I knew you would dismiss my *in kind* comment. Ironic, isn't it?
Next time, tell us WHY Trump isn't crazy. This is the part you Trumpettes don't understand: "He's not Hillary" is not enough to make us throw away our vote on him. Gary Johnson is not Hillary EITHER, so there is just as much reason to vote for him or Castle.
I think the problem is that you CAN'T mount a defense of this buffoon. He *is* a buffoon and prone to extended bouts of buffoonery that are embarrassing, to say the least.
Is Trump crazy? Probably not. Does he conduct himself like an immature, narcissistic child that would make people THINK he's crazy? Absolutely! Anyone who follows him on Twitter can see it daily.
So, don't tell us he's not crazy. Give us some proof to refute his very own actions.

So, I know it's just Friday night and you said come back Saturday....

More of this stuff but Trump won, what?
All of those blue states:

So, if one is name-calling, we just had a good example of that, hey, that's the folks in all of those states, "snowflakes"; so the Jeb/Ted/John/Marco supporters really show themselves again. Practically all of Dixie. In fact, to me, it is all of Dixieland. Is that what people are arguing with? Is that whom is being put down?
-
I think the mods do well, if there is bullying, one has to "double-down" as they say.
The mods in some cases, do not seem to want to be confrontational as well; so then, the thing is to say one's point; and that is that.
-

I seriously hope you Svengalis aren't hoping to take your mind-reading act on the road. You'd get kicked into the ditch at the first truck stop.
I would have replied earlier to your parlor tricks but, after all, mother would kick me out of the parlor for the language you should be slathered with for such ridiculous slander, and besides, the thread was locked.
It is, as I have repeatedly stated MY vote, and I won't use it to support something I don't like.
I have repeatedly stated that Hillary nor Trump are acceptable to me, neither the serial adulterer not the serial rapist enabler are people I want in the office of President of the US, neither of those liars is acceptable, neither of those who are in contempt of or just ignorant of our Armed forces is fit to be Commander in Chief.
Trump is already backing water on his support of the Second Amendment kissing up to the el presidente of Mexico. So I don't think a guy who has supported an "assault weapons ban" in the past will be guaranteeing anything for me. Why would I vote for that? At least the 'pubbies who have been mushy on all the issues would put up some token resistance to a Democrat for such proposals, but might not fight against a Republican Liberal at all.
I am supporting someone from a Party which supports the Constitution of the United States of America (Darrell Castle).
Do you have a problem with supporting the Constitution of the United States of America?
If not, why are you snarking at me? Trump said he will support all 12 articles!!! (There are only seven. Oops. I would say he doesn't have any idea what he is talking about.) Hillary will subvert it all day.
Why would you support either of them? I won't.
It isn't because a plurality of primary voters and Dem crossovers pushed Trump through over a few better candidates, nor is it because the guy I supported during the primaries came in second, it is because the fellow you are holding up to be an acceptable candidate for POTUS just isn't, and neither is the b*tch he is running against.

I had to leave for a while and am now back. I will make this final post on this thread and that is it. katzenjammer, you said you were not a regular here so you have no idea what has been happening. It is absolutely true we were asked by mystery not to post on the PRO TRUMP ONLY section. You can't just drop in and start giving edicts. Either stay with the program to see the play before you cut up the actors, or stay silent or stay home.
A smart person who is a moderator would not use snide, cutting remarks to posters, then add a term of endearment to dismiss the poster as a lesser person than she is. Only an arrogant person of lesser intelligence with illusions of grandeur for being a moderator would do that. She is on my ignore list but it is nauseating to see her do that to others. If she would stay in her safe room and moderate her safe room, removing posts she doesn't like, there wouldn't be a problem. The end.

I do wish you would lay off Victoria33. She has done nothing to merit the attention of the "mean girls". Frankly, I'm surprised to see you teaming up with such company. While you can be tedious at times, especially if someone has been rude or hurtful to you, you have mostly been kind to others until recently; thus my respect for you. Picking on an 83 year-old woman merely because her opinion differs from yours is not something I would have expected of you. The "mean girls" certainly, but not you.
We are mostly all friends here. I had high hopes that we would be able to rise above this nasty election after it was finally over and return to being good friends. Naive? Probably, but I did have hope. Hurtful words cast cannot be taken back. Words should be chosen carefully and wisely.
It appears to me from reading the words of the "mean girls" that they are proud to have run off hundreds of forum members with their nasty behavior. I surmise from their behavior of the last few days, they are going for another round by being as hateful and obnoxious as possible. Since you appear to have thrown in with that particularly nasty lot, I can only assume you want us gone as well. As I stated earlier, I am saddened.
The most idiotic of all this thought process of the "mean girls" is they seem to think they are helping Trump by behaving as he does. All it does is remind those that are considering voting for him that he is a boor and his behavior will become the norm, something decent people do not wish to see happen. How can one tell his child that it's not nice to mug 83 year old women when it is considered acceptable behavior? All you bunch are doing is losing him votes, something that he sorely needs if you wish him to win as he has to win big to the electoral college.
If this is the road you wish to choose, have at it. I can only speak for myself, but the "mean girls" will not run me off. They won't be successful in their attempts to bait me to get me thrown off either. They will simply look as they are... mean and petty.

As you know .... removing posts that are deemed offensive by a moderator is TBR tradition .... as you witnessed on this very thread.
What you do not seem to know is: "safe room" was a term conceived by someone here as an insult---an insult which has stuck, unfortunately.
But "safety" has nothing to do with the guidelines for posting in the Election Forum. The guidelines are about respect--for the Republican candidate and those who support him; and vice versa.
Constructive criticism of the candidate is okay; merely demeaning the candidate and his supporters is not. So, leave behind the clever, knee-jerk references to idiots, morons, LIV, all things orange and references to members of the family formerly known as Pongidae, and you are more than welcome to join in.
There is a lot of important information contained throughout the Election Forum. I encourage you to participate in this forum.

It's pretty obvious, by now, that these Trump fans would turn this forum into yet another "no dissent allowed", free-speech-free forum like FR. That they have their very own section in which no dissent is allowed speaks volumes about what they, and others like them, would do to the entire country....
if they could.
A Trump presidency would probably enable them to do just that. Stifle freedom of speech (as he has already mentioned his intent to do so).

I'm free to comment to the officer giving me that ticket. But, if I begin disrespecting him with personal insults, i'm going to hear about it.

I'm free to comment to the officer giving me that ticket. But, if I begin disrespecting him with personal insults, i'm going to hear about it.
If that was aimed at me, show me the personal insult. (There wasn't one).
-

Typical. You missed the point of what RIV was saying, and what I was reinforcing.
-
Say! I've got a good idea! Now would be a good time for, oh I don't know management to step in and set things straight. Kind of explain things again...
-
Typical. You missed the point of what RIV was saying, and what I was reinforcing.
Maybe it would be nice if you just spelled it out instead of harping on missing it and leaving me in the dark.
-
OP, you managed to bring out the mean girls en masse. This thread is just one big "You are ignoring this user." for me. It figures since I agree with everything you said.
Good post.
LOL! I noticed that myself. Post after post of "Ignore" people who never say anything worth reading.....
I LOVE the IGNORE feature. It saves so much time and aggravation.
-
You know, this thread illustrates something interesting.
Sad, right?
There is never anything else. They can't defend Trump on the merits (there are none), so they attack anyone and everyone who opposes anything about him.
-
...but, you wouldn't notice given your present state of mind regarding Donald Trump. Just saying. My humble opinion.
Your crazy assumption about and attack against @mountaineer is one of the funniest things you've ever posted here @aligncare.
She's as fair-minded as anyone on this board, and NEVER attacks people about Trump.
When you go this far to disparage the best people on this forum, you prove how disingenuous you are.
Stop making yourself look like a fool.
-
I never thought it either; probably because it hasn't happened.
Now, if "freedom of speech" means the right to treat others abusively, that's another story.
LOL! Pookie watch out Tom is after your job!
-
I think the mods do well, if there is bullying, one has to "double-down" as they say.
The mods in some cases, do not seem to want to be confrontational as well; so then, the thing is to say one's point; and that is that.
It would seem that calling someone who isn't a Trump worshiper a Jackass is permitted.
-
From my perspective it appears you are being gang targeted. Stand strong my friend. I've seen this before. They pick on the most articulate posters. Ignore them. You have far more friends than enemies here.
@RAT Patrol
They are all on Ignore except that kat person who appeared on Friday whose last post was in March. I knew nothing about him/her/it. He/she/it is now on Ignore. Thank you for your post. 888high58888

@RAT Patrol @Victoria33
I agree with you RAT. Victoria is being targeted, and needs to stand strong.
She is a valuable poster with deep thoughts, and clearly is a woman of character and patriotism.
The fact that she is being attacked here is an indicator of how low some have gotten on this forum.
Trump really does turn people black. I've never seen anything like it in all my years. (katzenjammer was a really good man before. Seriously. It's disturbing what's happened to him).
Hang in there Victoria! In a very short period of time, you have become a beloved TBR contributor. Don't let the mean girls' club get you down!

Odd, eh? That someone shows up....out of the blue....hasn't posted in five months....and suddenly starts defending the actions of a certain faction here. Actually....change that. Make it....not odd.....but obvious.
-

It is the same MO they used on TOS. Only we're on to them now.
-
Thank you @RAT Patrol and @musiclady You expressed my sentiments exactly. Such a beloved, intelligent member being attacked with such vehemence by the gang is greatly disturbing to me. You both stated it much more eloquently than I ever could. Bless you both.
As I see this, there is a spiritual battle going on here, and this is more evidence of it.
We need to stand up for each other, but even more importantly, we need to stand up for truth.
@Victoria33 has been speaking truth, and that, IMO, is why she has been targeted.
-
I apologize, Sanguine. I find it annoying as well when those ignored appear in the quotes. I lost my head for a bit there in my shock that there appears to be a concerted effort to gang up on Victoria33, one of the better members of this forum.
I could see them possibly ganging up on such as myself as I don't contribute much here, but there would be no preppers forum if not for Victoria33, something I'd think they would at least appreciate. I know I certainly do. There is much knowledge to be gained from Victoria33.
Yeah, it's weird how that happens. Not sure what the intent would be.
-
I believe you are correct. They want us to march in lock-step with their candidate or leave. No dissent will be tolerated.

Fascinating that we are castigated because we are not good little loyal Republicans when the candidate they are madly in love with and are lashing out with venom against everyone who doesn't support him is...........
is.........................
A DEMOCRAT!!!!
The hypocrisy is sometimes too much to bear. **nononono*

Like ALL of us, you are free to vote your conscience! I hope that you find some degree of enjoyment and satisfaction when you cast your vote for HRC, I really do! :)
@katzenjammer
@Victoria33
I don't think Victoria will find any enjoyment in it. I suspect, rather, that she will do so with a heavy heart, knowing that almost any of the other Republican candidates standing on the debate stage in the beginning could have beaten Hillary. Instead, children had to indulge their anger...they had to have their bellowing cretin.
Victoria has a long history with the Republican party. She is a conservative who supported the Constitutional conservative in this race. Her vote won't affect the electoral outcome in Texas; she simply can't bring herself to vote for someone she believes is a nutcase. Regardless, her vote is her own to use as she sees fit.
The reality of the situation is that anyone who casts a presidential vote in this election will be voting for a big-government liberal Democrat. Pick your poison---Hillary or the Hillary donor/supporter/praiser.
-
@Victoria33
I hope you do.
@Right_in_Virginia
There are two reasons you won't find me posting in the Trump safety area. The first is because Myst asked us not to do it and I'll respect that. The second is that I have zero respect for the "Republican" candidate, and, in fact, hold him in the highest contempt.
But let's drop the falsity that this has anything to do with logic. In fact, it has everything to do with emotion. I've seen you elsewhere, gushing about your love for Trump and your desire for pictures of him. The bottom line is that you just can't bear to hear criticism of him.
-
Trump really does turn people black.
What the heck do you have against black people ML?
@musiclady  It is really stunning to see the change in people around here. All of us. Stunning.

Hmmm. What post is that from? If you quote the post and carve off everything you didn't want for context, others could go back without having to pick through the whole thread to find it and see what you left out. That would be more intellectually honest and facilitate discussion. Thank You.

Was that supposed to be funny, flowers? You who have changed from a sweet woman to one who piles on with venom?
Trump love has changed you. We used to have a lot in common, and I haven't changed a single bit. Same values. Same conservatism. Same morals. Same standards. Same requirements for leaders.
The only question is, what happened to make you turn so dark and filled with rage??
-

It's a desperate post from a woman who knows she's in the wrong and is lashing out at a person who has kept the same values I have had my entire life.
There's no intellectual honesty when anger and vengeance are the primary motivators.
All I can do is to stay the same person as I have always been, and hope some of these former friends return to their former selves.

Sad that those who abandon their principles feel so angry toward those who don't. Those of us who have held the same positions on issues and kept the same principles for decades and remain unmoved can only pray they see their folly and how it is making them bitter.

They are the only ones who can cure themselves, by the Grace of God. Shed anger, resentment, rediscover the principles they held, abandon the pride that kept them going in the wrong direction and following a false prophet, and get right with The Almighty.
It isn't easy, it requires scrupulous honesty and introspection, but it can be done, if one has the will.
Unfortunately many folks will continue to be miserable rather than admit they just might have been wrong.
-

It's all we can do.
Reason hasn't worked, has it? Rational thought can't crack through a thick layer of anger and emotion.
All we can do is stay as we are, and pray they will come back.

I wanted to start this thread to see if there were any Trump supporters that would engage on the issues or if they would rather go into attack mode. I wanted the following to be an experiment:
Will Trump supporters allow any criticism/debate about him without devolving to personal/ad hominem/straw men arguments? Assuming an initial “throw down” of “Why can’t we talk without a fight?”, I think I have the answer.
Admittedly, the title of the thread was attention-getting, I still got my answer. After reading over the thread again, I think Trump supporters proved where and who they are.
I didn't expect the number of responses. And to my recollection, only one person offered to answer questions (RiV), although that also contained an implied threat to “…question your logic and perceived outcome of continuing to degrade the Republican nominee...”
I think my point has been proven and it’s been proven by Trump supporters on this site.
You folks are predictable.

Oh :bsflag: You came here by your own admission looking for a fight. That's a pretty asinine way to start a dialogue. Here's what Trump supporters believe, and your post and entire thread are proof positive we are right:

Ahhh...as always: Class will out.
RiV- Displaying snark, insecurity and meanness is no way to go through life.
You are a small person, with a small esteem, overcompensating with teeth and claws. We can disagree about things without it being personal, but you won't allow that. Bombast does not equate to a quality debate.
And say what you will, but Trump supporters have proven my point.
[BTW, I already explained to you once about the title of this thread and its intent. So, I either didn't use small enough words or you're [once again] being purposely obtuse. Either way, you're not to blame. If you don't have the brains for this, you can't grow them; you're just stuck.]
And Trump supporters may well feel that others are stupid because they don't agree. Maybe that says more about Trump supporters.
From the nastiness of your post, I'm thinking we've gotten a little too close to the bone for your comfort.
But, little snowflake, there's other folks in your group that you can commiserate with. They'll agree with you and applaud you and whimper and whine with you about the "stupid" people who incredibly, impossibly, unreasonably don't share your view of things.
