BBC launches investigation as Jeremy Clarkson denies using N-word while filming Top Gear
LAST UPDATED AT 10:34 ON Thu 1 May 2014
JEREMY CLARKSON has denied using the N-word in previously unseen Top Gear footage which was edited out of an episode broadcast in February last year.
It's the second time in recent weeks that Clarkson has been accused of using a racial slur. During a recent Top Gear special filmed in Thailand he appeared to refer to a Thai man as a "slope" – a derogatory term for Asians.
The Daily Mirror published the N-word claim after examining a recording of the incident passed to the paper after the programme had been edited. In the clip Clarkson is shown attempting to choose between two cars.
"The Mirror hired a firm of audio forensic experts to analyse the Top Gear clip and they confirmed that the N-word was indeed used by Clarkson," the paper says.
"An investigator – working for digital forensics company CY4OR – produced a transcript as part of the study. It stated Clarkson said the following: 'Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, catch a n***** by his toe, when he squeals, let him go, eeny, meeny, miny, moe'."
The presenter mumbles as he recites the rhyme, but in the broadcast version he clearly says "teacher" instead of the disputed N-word.

It's clear that it's time to investigate everyone, using any means available to make sure they have never uttered the N word. Punishment is clear, complete destruction of their life. It goes without saying, but for clarity's sake, black people are exempt from this.
-
bleep.
There.
-
I think we need to put people like this in chains and parade them around the public square. Flogging is okay too.
Vast portions of our society have become obsessively manic.
-
This is insane. If the intent is to widen the racial divide, it's working.
-
I suggest people of no color, ie whites, start calling each other "cracker." And make it so that only whites can socially refer to other whites using that term. The word "cracker" will then be officially off-limits to blacks.
And when a black in the media uses the derogatory word "cracker" he can then be appropriately punished. Turnabout is fairplay.
Got that, crackers? Let's make it tough on blacks to shop for saltines.
"Excuse me, sir, could you tell me where are the crackers?" Oh, shock! I meant the food item!

Excellent. Now, if a black was buying cheap saltines, would that person be niggardly?

Yup!
-
I do not like words becoming "off limits." They are my paints, my brushes and my canvas all in one and the loss of a single word is like the loss of a color.

Interesting that I used a word for cheap, a real word, and TBR bleeped it.
-
This is a quick test of the bleeping
Niger
Nigeria
bleeprdly
Negroid
Niggerhead
Yep - that is bloody odd.

Depth of white guilt is unfathomable ...

I don't even have a twinge of that odd affliction.
My people came through NJ, and PA, and settled in OH. No one owned a slave in my family.
I have no proof, but it's highly likely that people in my family bled to free slaves.
No American, alive today, has owned a slave.
No American, alive today, has ever been a slave.
Blacks were captured and sold by other blacks.
It's my opinion, that blacks in America are likely far better off than if they were in Africa.
Given all that, I consider all debts paid, and we're all equal. If that's not good enough... I'll stop there.

Relic - I totally and unreservedly agree with you.

This controversy has the stink of Piers Morgan all over it.
(Here in the States, the poem uses the word 'tiger'. I never heard of it using the N word.)

Did you grow up in the south? I did, and I was taught that poem with the n-word. I was also taught another name for Brazil nuts too. I don't use that word, because it offends - BUT - this thought police thuggery is making me mad!

I heard it both here in the UK and also in Canada.

I heard both of those, and I'm in Ohio.
I'll confess, I use the word. Why? Because it's forbidden. I'd never use it outside the confines of my home because of the damage it would cause. And, I don't use it to offend. I rarely use it to describe a black person, unless it's someone as odious as Al Sharpton. I will use it to describe myself, or my dog in jest, because I'm not "supposed" to use it.

Texas so not deep south. Maybe it was common in prior generations or I was just isolated from that stuff.

Interesting. I recall saying, catch a "nickel" by the toe – makes no sense, of course. But I was learning English then. Came when I was six. It's just a rhyme, anyway.

I remember when we commonly called Brazil nuts N----toes, and us kids would buy black licorice babies at the corner store asking for 3 cents worth of, you got it, N-----babies. Now I'm one who am glad the word for the most part disappeared from our language here in the west anyway, kept only alive by black street thugs. I haven't used the word in years and I'm not going to start here just to make a point. But still does someone else using it deserve the kind of wrath this is getting? It's nuts!
-
The word has disappeared from my lexicon for many decades.

Sticks and stones will break your bones ... but utter forbidden word, you are alone.
