on Breitbart TV 12 May 2014, 8:31 AM PDT

On Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” on Monday, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume reacted to revelations from Tim Geithner’s memoir that White House communications staffers Dan Pfeiffer and Stephanie Cutter attempted to coerce the then-Treasury Secretary to make statements that were untrue.

Hume tied the changing circumstances of the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack and how the White House had handled it, claiming politics weren’t involved in the messaging in the aftermath of Benghazi, to what Geithner had illustrated in his book about the role of a Cabinet official and the interactions with the White House.

“Well what it illustrates, Martha, is the extent to which the White House is deeply involved, and this has not been true just at this White House – this has been a custom for quite a long time,” Hume said. “In the preparation of members of the Cabinet and other senior officials to appear on television, whether it’s on a Sunday show or in the case of this Stephanie Cutter matter, simply an event in the White House where the press was at least briefly present and remarks were going to be made by the president and others, including in this case, Geithner.”

“So when we think about Benghazi and the supposed CIA talking points that were the core on supposedly what Susan Rice had said on all five Sunday shows, it’s inconceivable that the White House was not involved in that,” he continued. “And now we know from the email that got out a week or two ago that indeed the White House was involved. So, this is the way it works. It also illustrates, Martha, I must tell you, and this is reminiscent of complaints I have heard from other Cabinet members that being a Cabinet member can be a humbling experience because you’re forever being told by some 30-something whippersnapper in the White House what you’re supposed to do, what you’re supposed to say and the rest of it if you’re going to share the president’s limelight. And that certainly was the case here with Geithner.”

There was a time when I thought there was a "they". They would never let a president run roughshod over the constitution. They would stop him. They would prevent him from destroying our nation.

I also believed that the media, in spite of their bias, would attack any president who proved to be destructive.

I realize neither of those two things are even close to being true.

The only "they" who have that power are the American citizens. And the American people used that power to elect a president who isn't fond of our Constitution not just once, but twice.
As Pogo said "I have met the enemy, and he is us".

The next two presidential elections are going to reveal just how large that "enemy" is.

And whether there's any hope of overcoming it, or not...

I think the answer will come sooner. If we don't have a GOP majority Congress - both House and Senate - after this Nov., there won't be much hope.
If the dims don't lose a lot of seats in both houses, then we will know that the average voter is either socialist, oblivious, or maybe just terribly uneducated - and that last may be true of many of our younger voters. Our educational system has been a leftist propaganda machine for a long time now.

What surprises me is the number of people who still believe that the electoral process is producing an accurate count of the votes actually cast...

It is an accurate count of the votes actually cast as long as you accept that votes cast by the dead, the senile, the homeless, the drug and alcohol impaired, and the people who register in multiple districts and states are acceptable.

There are some states that are trying to get voter rolls restricted to only legal residents who are alive and old enough to vote, but they're having a hard time. It would help if people would vote to elect the politicians who are trying to do that.
We can't just focus on Presidential elections; elections at all levels have an effect on our system.

What a load of crap!

The most advanced nation on the planet needs to take a lesson from the citizen voters in Iraq.

You must go to the polls in person and after dropping a physical paper ballot into a box, you stick your finger in purple liquid....that doesn't wash off with soap and water.

To hell with the "I voted" sticker.....purple dye is much more effective.

Oh, yes, but you're forgetting that minority voters can't get to the polls, and it's evil for the rest of us to disenfranchise them.

Somehow, we decided that it's more important to make it easy for the uninterested to vote than it is to make sure that the people who vote have an idea what they're voting for. There are countries - like Australia - that make everyone vote. They only get one vote/person, but then a lot of those votes go to Mickey Mouse or the teen idol of the day.

I don't think there is a perfect voting system. I don't like Iraq's, Australia's or our current one.
