Cruz replied, “I certainly assume so. I was supportive of and campaigned for President Trump in 2016, and I am very encouraged with the substantive policy victories we are getting, whether it is an historic tax cut bill, whether it is regulatory reform that’s unleashing jobs, whether it is repealing the Obamacare individual mandate — which I led the fight to do in the United States Senate — whether it is nominating and confirming strong constitutionalists to the courts. On all of those fights I’ve been working to lead the battle. I’m content to continue working to lead that battle and defend our freedoms and defend the Constitution.â€
Cruz invited American support for his Senatorial election campaign. He said, “Let me encourage everyone again, the hard left is raising tons of money. They’re coming after us, and if you want to defend our freedom, if you want to defend the Constitution, if you want to build a wall, then we need your help. Come to our website, tedcruz.org. Support us, contribute, because the other side is coming hard and they’re pushing impeachment and open borders and taking away our rights, and so we need to stand together and defend those rights.â€

@corbe he stated that he was voting for him in the last election after Trump threatened him, so this isn't too surprising. Secondly, Ted is in a heap of trouble right now with Beto outraising him and the DNC and lots of liberal azzholes trying to ensure that TX turns blue ... this IMHO is an effort to try to get Trump and the NRSC to help him out. Not going to happen unfortunately, but Ted is making this last ditch effort.

Senator Cruz is not afraid of Beto. The Dems have been pouring their hearts ... and all their money ... into trying to win elections prior to 2020. Most of it has been wasted.
I've always said that Cruz would support Trump if Trump ran in 2020 and I think Cruz is probably a little impressed (as am I) that Trump has been a better President than he expected.
I'm not sure this is a story.

There is something to this.
Cruz wanted to back more challengers to incumbents, draining the swamp before draining the swamp was cool.
He backed McDaniel over Cochran In Mississippi, and the leadership wasn't thrilled, and actively campaigned for Cochran.
A pissed off Cruz called McConnell on it, who denied it, and Cruz quit the NRSC.
Maybe now he feels the need to get back into the fold, now that he may need some of the backing to keep Beto at bay.
Not sure he needs to do that, but it may be what he's thinking.

The demographics of my precinct have changed drastically over the past 20 years. During that time, our 80% white district is now:

Asian = Indian
We have become home to a rapidly growing Muslim community, although it appears most appear to be assimilating judging by women in hijabs driving cars and wearing yoga pants.
In 2016, the precinct voted 3 to 1 Republican. Our state representative, Matt Rinaldi, was voted most conservative Texas rep, I wish he'd run for Kenny Marchant's seat in Congress.
Ted will win reelection by a comfortable margin.
Please LB, don't buy into the media narrative.
ETA: I am counting on a multi-generational Indian family buying our house in several years. Ground has been broken on a new elementary school across the street from us. The prospect of a "new school" was a big part of the promotional pitch delivered when we built the house 20 years ago.
I'm not counting the money yet, but it's in a prime spot...good schools and the Cypress Waters development is about a mile away. Traffic's now a real beyotch in our area, people will pay to avoid a commute over 5 miles. It now takes me over 50 minutes for a 10 mile roundtrip to my son's high school. Coppell's roads were fine for a 20K town, they are now completely insufficient for a 50K city with a HS over 3500 students.

IMO, Ted's supported Trump where he agrees with him, and been silent on where he doesn't agree...as opposed to we "Never Trumpers" who have applauded the moves we agree with, and spoke out on the rest.

Cruz got taken to the wood shed by the Texas delegation to the GOP convention. His "Vote
your conscience" speech was not at all popular with Texas's Republicans. Particularly after vowing
to support the GOP nominee no matter who that might be. Even since that meeting Cruz has
played nice to Trump. One thing I like about Ted is that he can be made to see the light once he
starts to feel the heat.

Cruz has a good chance to become a future president, so, for that matter, does someone like Nikki Haley. Cruz is playing it smart and being a team player. I thought for sure, in 2016, we would see 4 more years at least, of Democratic rule.
Now, we have the best presidency for Americans, in who knows, how long? Largely keeping out of foreign conflicts, which the press really blasted the last Republican president about, right or wrong, a strong economy, emphasis on religious liberties, it's a bit like the silent majority. Our country has a chance now vs. what would have been progressivism.

Absolutely, it was one trick after another, I don't see where one can draw the line and say, this one trick or act, is over the line and others are not by a different candidate.

I don't like to be reminded of the primaries. It makes me go back to hating Trump and I don't want to hate him. Right now he's our only defense against the liberals.

It says he's a politician. Watch the video of Cruz giving Trump hell after Heidi's looks were mocked, and then read the editorial Ted wrote for Trump in Time magazine. I think he's the best Washington can offer, but in the end, holding on to his position is the most important thing. It's one reason I see politics as a big exercise in kabuki theatre.

Hey, I did read your link but remember this delegation was mostly Trump devotees or career politicians. Cruz has principles. He has been amazing in his ability to forget a mountain of stuff to support Trump but I think he's doing it for the good of the country and because Trump has been okay in a lot of things.
But, hey, I like this quote from Ted; "And that pledge was not a blanket commitment that if you go slander and attack Heidi, then I'm not going to nonetheless come like a servile puppy dog and say thank you very much for maligning my wife and maligning my father."
